While I'm not super high on the idea of having Scorpion knocking around in the oversized pocket I'll be keeping my PS Vita in, he and the rest of the Kombatants are coming to the console in a couple of weeks in the handheld port of the excellent console reboot from last year. WB Interactive and NetherRealm Studios, the game's developer have sent over a new trailer for the release which looks like it survived the transition to the Vita intact.
You can see the trailer and find out more about the game after the break.
The on-the-go version of Mortal Kombat will include another 150 Challenge Tower missions and for those of you who like a slightly larger roster, Kratos will be a platform-exclusive character with this release. The trailer promises the return of all of the characters, but it's not clear if this includes the DLC characters like Freddy Krueger. Likewise, we see Scorpion and Sub-Zero getting violent in what appear to be augmented reality backgrounds but this is a feature that hasn't been announced at this point, and I'm following up with WB to find out what's up with this feature.
One thing we can all agree on: the Vita won't be lacking for big-name fighting games in the first couple of months of its release with MK, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BlazeBlue, and the upcoming Street Fighter x Tekken making their way to the handheld over the coming weeks.
Mortal Kombat will be punching, stabbing, freezing, and teleporting its way onto the Vita February 28th.
