The Day They Cancelled Blizzcon

Posted 1/26/12 1:30 pm EST by Charles Webb in News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Blizzard's trying to make you people games, they don't have time for conventions!

The latest builds of upcoming games! Frenzied multiplayer! Music! Celebrity hosts! Elaborate cosplay! Look forward to all of this and more during Blizzcon... 2013.

Blizzard is taking a break from their annual convention where gamers come to celebrate Blizzard games so the gigantic developer can continue making games that gamers will flock to celebrate. It's not like Blizzard doesn't have enough on its plate: they're still fiddling around with Diablo III in advance of its release at some still-shrouded-in-secrecy date later this year, plus, there's still that upcoming Mists of Pandaria expansion for WoW, and whatever else they've got cooking in what I can only assume is their fortified development bunker a full mile beneath the Earth's surface.

What I'm saying is, the Blizzard guys toil—I'm fairly certain the word was made with them in mind.

But don't fret: there will be a Blizzard-related gaming event this year in the form of their Battle.net World Gaming Championship, and I'm sure the hardest of the hardcore Starcraft fanatics among you are asking, "where can I buy tickets?" Well, the catch is that the location for the event hasn't been announced yet, but it's going to be somewhere in Asia. I'm going to go right ahead and join Mr. Navarro in guessing that it will be in South Korea.
