Screens and Details For Moody Cel-Shaded Adventure Game, 'Yesterday'

Posted 1/26/12 1:00 pm EST by Charles Webb in PC, Screenshots

Pendulo Studios' upcoming adventure game looks cool, sounds serious.

I could tell Yesterday was a European release because it seems like animators and artists seem to really like this clean, cel-shaded look. Consider XIII or the features Renaissance and Prodigies, or, for the slightly younger set, the animated series Oban Star Racers. Okay, those were all French projects, while developer Pendulo Studios is Spanish, but Yesterday sure looks nice, doesn't it?

The latest title from Pendulo, the game involves mysterious disappearances and murders, strange scarring, and multiple playable characters according to the synopsis:

In New York City, beggars are disappearing one after another, only to be found burnt alive. Meanwhile, a Y-shaped scar forms in the palm of the hands of seemingly unrelated people. With the police and the media giving little attention to these events, Henry White, a young and rich heir dedicated to a charitable organization, and his friend Cooper, are the first to investigate these disappearances. They are two of the three playable characters in Yesterday, the third being none other than the enigmatic John Yesterday, who is dragged into this incredible story after his memory is completely wiped.

This is the starting point of the brand new adventure from Pendulo Studios. More will be unveiled in the coming months, without spoiling the deep scenario and its numerous turning points which are sure to surprise many players when the game releases in March 2012!

The game's site still seems to be under construction, and there's currently no trailer available to see this sweet art in motion. Still, consider me intrigued, Pendulo.

Yesterday is coming to the PC in March.
