Characters You Pretty Much Expect Are Announced For 'Street Fighter X Tekken'

Posted 1/18/12 11:00 am EST by Charles Webb in Fighting Games, News, PC, PS Vita, PS3, Screenshots, Xbox 360

Six franchise regulars—three from each side—are revealed in the latest update from Capcom.

On the Capcom side, we've got villains Vega, Balrog, and Juri showing up to the mashup fighter while on the Namco Bandai side, Paul, Law, and Xiaoyu are joining the roster. The newly-released images also show off Raven, who'll be an interesting fit in this 2D brawler given how much of his Tekken 5 and 6 move sets were based on getting around your opponent.

Law is back, bringing the sweet stache-ness

Marshall Law seems like a natural fit for the lineup with a lot of punishing straight jabs and kicks. Actually, this has been traditionally my go-to character in Tekken (with Lei Wulong following in a distant second).

There's certainly some joke about Paul and Guile fighting it out over highest high top

Paul has always seemed pretty transparently inspired by Ken, so his inclusion here is almost like a weird sort of homecoming. For a clone, I guess. Typically one of the most versatile fighters in Tekken I can easily see his moves being translated to 2D.

Vega makes an appearance along with Tekken's Wesley Snipes, Raven

Oh Vega, you've made me miserable in every Street Fighter title in which you've appeared. Typically taking advantage of walls and his own dazzling speed, what he's lacked in strength he's always more than made up for with raw pep. "Pep" here meaning "able to float like a butterfly and sting like nobody's business."

And we've got a look at Xiaoyu in action. What will be interesting here is to see how her low to the ground stance fares and what kind of challenges and opportunities it might pose opponents.

And here's the latest story trailer:

Street Fighter X Capcom will be available on March 6th for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC with the PS Vita version coming sometime later this year.
