Plus, a press conference next week will detail new features and information about this unexpected mashup 3DS title.
Details are starting to emerge about Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition, the upcoming 3DS release which will be hitting Japanese shelves later this year. The basic gameplay is pure tactical RPG, so you'll have to position yourself and make and attack with your Pokemon. Additionally, you have hero characters—"Warlords" here—who have command abilities which can affect the outcome of your fights and who can also search caves and other locations for new Pokemon to ensnare in your brutal army. This is all in addition to 6v6 fights as well as online play.
Additionally, Pokemon Company announced that next week they'll be conducting a completion ceremony in honor of wrapping the game where they will provide more info about the release. You can follow it Nico Nico (Ustream link not yet available) between 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM on January the 19th local Japan time (I think that's 6:30/9:30 PM PST/EST).
In the meantime, you can actually get a good look at some screens from the game on its official site (in Japanese).
Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition will be available in Japan on March 17th.
