Select Cities Can Get Their Hands On the PS Vita Next Week

Posted 1/12/12 1:26 pm EST by Charles Webb in News, PS Vita, sony

Sony's taking the new hardware on a road trip in advance of its February release.

Starting next week, Sony is giving gamers hands-on demos of the new Playstation Vita hardware in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Miami, and New York City. It's part of what Sony is calling their Vita Hill Social Club, and the event promises free food, shirts, contests, and of course, game demos of the new hardware. You can find details about the location and how to RSVP on the Playstation blog.

We could play the game where I pretend to guess whether Sony's taking the PS Vita around to select cities for a little hands-on time for prospective buyers is a vote of confidence or a sign of anxiety, but I have no idea how the public is going to react to the Vita and that's really the big question, isn't it? After the baffling tumble the hardware took in Japan, who wouldn't be anxious, though. It goes without saying that comparing the two potential audiences is an apples and oranges situation, but it's good at least that Sony is trying to show people what their $400 dollars (or more with data plans) will get them.
