60beat recently announced a new iOS-specific GamePad, but the lack of games that support it made the $50 price tag pretty unappealing. Now, Fructel has announced that their clip-on Gametel controller, that was originally only compatible with Android devices, is now supported by a slew of games on iPhone and iPad.
On Android the Gametel controller requires a driver download to get started, but the new iPhone compatibility is said to be a simple plug-and-play affair. The company is also working on an iOS app that will help mobile gamers find titles compatible with the device. You can check out a list of compatible games over Gametel.com, but they say any iCade compatible game should work just fine.
“Gametel has proved popular among Android users but we’re pleased to bring support for the Apple iPhone and iPad." said Fructel CEO Bo Nyman, "Now users can experience even more immersive gameplay using the Gametel’s console-style controls – freeing the touchscreen from fingers.”
The controller features a classic d-pad, four action buttons, start & select buttons and shoulder buttons on either side. It simply connects to the iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth and the after it is paired for the first time all you have to do is turn it on when you want to use it. It's not available in the U.S. quite yet, but we're guessing it will cost around $75 when it lands.
