Nintendo's Wii U is still months away from release, but according to The Daily, and their unnamed sources, Nintendo is hard at work on a full-featured App Store for the console and tablet-style controller.
Currently Nintendo offers downloadable titles through the Wii Shop Channel and the Nintendo eShop for handhelds, but the available non-gaming apps don't even compare to the selection found on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, let alone Apple's App Store.
The supposed app store would offer up apps that run on the actual console – entertainment choices like Hulu and Netflix come to mind – and apps that are built for the touchscreen controller. With it's tablet-like design it doesn't seem to far fetched to assume that we would be able to check email, browse the web or send out a tweet after we lay Bowser out.
Unfortunately, this is all just rumor and speculation for now, and we'll have to wait until later this year to see what Nintendo really has up their sleeve.
