If you're looking to get online on the go with your Vita, here's how much AT&T thinks you should be paying for it.
If you'll recall, when the PS Vita launches on February 22nd, it'll come in two configurations: a Wifi version retailing for around $249.00 and a 3G-enabled version which will sell for about $50 more. And if you want to go online with the latter setup, you'll need to set up a data plan with carrier AT&T (at least in the U.S.) who've set up two rate tiers for future console owners. Gamezone reports that $14.99 will get you 250 MB a month while $25 will get you 2 GB for all of your downloads, videos, and online play. This is identical to the iPad data plan pricing and doesn't require a contract.
If this is the case, then it seems like Sony and AT&T are banking on Vita users giving the system a good workout in the coming months and that it's really being pushed as a lifestyle device. I think Brian Crecente hit the nail on the head over at Kotaku when he countered this perception, describing it as a requiring that "gamers plan ahead" if they want to play it on the go. I don't know that it will be as ubiquitous as i-devices and the audience may skew younger overall for the Vita than the iPhone/iPad.
Still, the first few months out from launch will be all about tweaking what does and does not work for Sony.
