Buy the reboot a little early, get the PS2 classic for free.
Yesterday, over on the Playstation Blog, Twisted Metal co-director David Jaffe provided a nice, cuddly post-holidays message to fans and followed all those warm and fuzzies with the announcement that the February 14th release of the series reboot/sequel will include a digital download code for Twisted Metal Black from PSN. The code will be available for first printings of the Twisted Metal—Jaffe is unsure of the availability here—and it's for the June '01 version of Twisted Metal Black, not the update with online play. Like the man says, you can't always get what you want.
Jaffe says the developers and publisher Sony made the move to include the 2001 title as a chance to expose fans to the evolution of the franchise's signature character, Sweet Tooth as well as changes to the series as a whole. Jaffe says the team was "just getting started" with Black and that the new game in the series will be the true execution for their vision of Twisted Metal.
Twisted Metal is rolling onto the PS3 on February 14th.
