Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations gets a trailer in advance of its March 13th release.
I get it now—this is "kitchen sink" Naruto game. Ever want to pit young Naruto against teen Naruto? You can do that. What about throwing characters who might have never met in the comics and anime against one another? That's something you can totally do. Along with a real-world collectible card game, Naruto Shippuden: UNSG promises over 70 characters across the series' history in one big, crazy brawl. It's not clear how story will be woven into the game, but apparently there's even some new, not-necessarily-canonical stuff worked in through anime vignettes produced by Studio Pierrot that fleshes out unexplored plots from the regular series.
I have to say, more than anything else, I'm suckered in by the art here: it's pretty true to the anime, and it's fluid and colorful in a way many other fighters simply aren't. In my opinion, this is kind of the pinnacle of the cel-shaded style and if it plays as good as it looks, Namco Bandai will have one of the most interesting fighters on the shelves in 2012.
Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations will be available on the PS3 and 360 on March 13th.
