The developers of Marvel's upcoming MMO have officially dubbed the MMO formerly known as Marvel Universe Online... well, you saw the image at the top of the post.

That sound you hear? That's the sound of a tipping point where there are more comic-based video games out in the wild based on big, long-form ideas than there are cheap cash-ins based on how long it takes to re-skin an existing mechanic with superhero dressing. It's also likely that there might be more MMOs now than there are people, so I'm looking forward to the nightmarish scenario where they rise up against their human overlords and begin culling us in some kind of tribute to the insane math of the Free to Play model.
Marvel Heroes will be available sometime in 2012.
