Watching developers make millions on simple iOS games really makes us want to create our own game so we can get in on the action. The problem for most people is they don't even know where to begin when it comes to writing code, but a new program called iStencyl aims to do away with that problem.
iStencyl allows users to create entire games using a simple block builder rather than code, however, if you do happen to be somewhat code-savvy you will have support for Objective-C. The software is available for PC and Mac and games can be tested in the program using the included app simulator or without the program on an actual iOS device (if you have an iOS developer account).
The program supports all native inputs for iPhone and iPad – multi-touch, accelerometer and on-screen joysticks. It even supports Apple's Game Center so we can include leaderboards and achievements in our games for bragging rights between friends.
After the game is fully prepared all you have to do is submit it to App Store and start raking in the cash. And the best part is each app you create will work on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch so any iOS user can get their hands on it. A finished game can also be exported to flash for web availability and Android and HTML 5 support is in the works.
Building and testing your game is free with the iStencyl program, but if you decide to start selling your masterpiece you'll have to upgrade to iStencyl Pro, which costs about $150.
