GTA III Makes Its Way To iOS and Android Devices

Posted 12/15/11 1:40 pm EST by Charles Webb in iPhone / iPad, News, rockstar games, Video

Tap and touch-based mayhem, I say!

There is almost nothing new at all I can tell you about this game which launched a franchise, made millions, stirred controversy, inspired imitators, and has come right back around to a new release on Android and iOS devices. It's available today for $4.99, so you can pick it up and maybe relive your first memory of stealing a car and then yelling at it for its janky handling. Then kind of fall in love with said janky handling.

Here's what Rockstar PR had to say about the release:

Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition Now Available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch Devices

New York, NY- December 15, 2011 – Rockstar Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition is now available on the App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Grand Theft Auto III is widely credited as one of the most influential video games of all time, and the release of the mobile version is in conjunction with the iconic title’s 10 year anniversary celebration.

"We wanted to deliver the same sense of freedom that made the original so groundbreaking,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is the entire captivating and addictive experience of Grand Theft Auto III, working beautifully on mobile devices."

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition is the complete console experience of the award-winning original, enhanced and optimized for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch with new features, including an intuitive, fully scalable and customizable user interface; upgraded textures; greater resolution and draw distance; and new mission replay and autosave features for an all-new experience on mobile devices.

Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition is available now for $4.99 on iOS and Android devices.
