VGA Trailer Debut: 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD'

Posted 12/13/11 10:02 am EST by Charles Webb in activision, PC, PS3, Trailer, Video, Xbox 360

It's been a rough couple of years for the Tony Hawk game brand, with poor reviews and equally poor gamer response to the franchise. Not only was the series constantly in the position of trying to reinvent itself, but it also had to contend with EA's pretty well-received Skate games, which delivered unadulterated skating action. Do you remember the skateboard peripheral? Yeah, that was a thing for a minute.

Anyway, it looks like Activision is trying the old "going back to our roots" approach with this downloadable, HD take on levels from the 1999 classic, Tony Hawk Pro Skater and its follow-up, according to a post on Kotaku. That probably means less guest stars, fewer wacky scenarios, as developer Robomodo (Tony Hawk: Shred, Tony Hawk: Ride) takes another run at series for this 2012 release.
