'Lego Batman 2: Superheroes' Confirmed

Posted 12/13/11 11:00 am EST by Charles Webb in 3DS / DS, News, PS3, vita, Wii, Xbox 360

As the new Lego toy sets make their way onto U.S. shelves, buyers are finding ads for the follow-up to the Traveller's Tales-developed hit inside instruction booklets for their new toys.

First off, it's blows my mind that Lego sets require instruction booklets, but that's neither here nor there.

It seems my initial skepticism was misplaced, and it looks increasingly like we'll be getting a Lego Batman game featuring more heroes from the DC Universe sometime in 2012. According to this post from MCVUK, the insert advertising the new game, the Caped Crusader is joined by Wonder Woman and Superman who are also getting new toy sets. This led MCVUK to speculate that the game will include the Joker, Green Lantern, and Lex Luthor, since all of these characters have been included in recent new sets. The ad also provides the platforms, with the 3DS, Wii, Xbox 360, and Playstation system(s) (the post is careful to note that the ad doesn't specify whether it will be on the PS3 and/or Vita), so when this thing comes out, you'll be able to play it on your platform of choice.

The insert doesn't provide a release date, but it would likely be sometime in 2012, maybe around the release of the next game. I sure would like to see that insert for myself, but so far, I've been unable to hunt up an image anywhere online.
