Multiple 'Skyrim' DLC Packs Coming... Someday

Posted 12/12/11 3:00 pm EST by Don Hatfield in bethesda game studios, DLC, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

Skyrim Game Director Todd Howard was at the Spike VGAs over the weekend and while speaking with Joystiq he revealed that the Game of the Year-winning title will be receiving multiple DLC add-on packs in the future. He also commented on the idea of multiplayer in upcoming Bethesda games.

No specifics on the DLC were given, but according to Joystiq Howard said the add-ons would provide “ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big. So we're going through ideas right now, and processing everything people are doing in the game, and trying to think of ways that we can improve it."

Unfortunately, for the time being there isn't any info on when exactly the digital content will be available, aside from Howard saying “They won't be quick”. However, he did go on to say, “they'll have a lot of meat on them" so we won't have to worry spending money on nothing.

One of the biggest questions Elder Scrolls fans have on their mind is whether or not we'll ever see a multiplayer or MMO-style game come out of Bethesda. “You can never say never to anything like that," said Howard, "but it's not what our focus is. This type of game is where our hearts are, what we get excited about, and that's what we want to focus on. We don't want to lose that focus and we never want to sacrifice anything in the singleplayer game just to have it be multiplayer."
