Ubisoft debuting the trailer for their big tactical shooter on Saturday at the Video Game Awards.
First they tease you with some concept renders, then they hit you with a trailer. At least, that's the straightforward approach Ubisoft is taking with their next big Tom Clancy game set to bring Rainbow 6 back to audiences after nearly five years away. Since the game is well over a year out, don't expect a ton of gameplay—in fact, I'm guessing it'll mostly be some nice CG at best or simply teaser-y VO at the least.
Here's the synopsis for the 2013 release:
etting the stage for the newest edition in the popular franchise, the trailer exemplifies the terrorist threat that not only poses a danger to Team Rainbow, but also to the nation. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots is due for release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in 2013.
Terrorism has evolved and America is under attack. Capitalizing on the sense of frustration in a nation seemingly corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests, a group of US citizens-turned-radicals, the “True Patriots,” will stop at nothing to overthrow the government and financial institutions. As a leader of the elite Rainbow counter-terrorism unit, players will be the last line of defense tasked with saving the nation no matter the cost.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots revolves around an unprecedented narrative that captures the reality of modern-day terrorism and allows players to experience it from multiple perspectives. In addition to the immersive single-player storyline, the game will introduce a huge variety of new innovative co-op and multiplayer experiences that add a new dimension to squad tactics. Players will be rewarded for working as a team and mastering the game’s new features that enhance communication and strategic execution between teammates.
The Spike TV VGAs will premiere LIVE on Spike TV, MTV2 and Spike.com on Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT.
