The first major shooter of the holiday season is also the first to unleash its DLC.
Battlefield 3 might not have exactly been the Modern Warfare-killer that EA was talking up a year or so back, but that doesn't mean that it didn't do some respectable business. And for those of you many gamers out there who picked up the other contemporary shooter with a great-big budget, you'll be happy to know that next week marks the first piece of DLC with the "Back to Karkand" expansion. At least, on the PS3--the new content will be hitting Xbox Live and PC one week later.
As part of the whole nexus of preorder/console exclusive madness, "Back to Karkand" is available for free to gamers who preordered the game but $14.99 on the PC/PSN and 1200 MS Points on Xbox Live. For that price, you'll be getting four new maps, 10 new weapons, three new vehicles, the inclusion of the Conquest Assault mode as well as the addition of "Assignments." In Conquest Assault mode, players on one team will attempt to protect their flags as the enemy team attempts to capture them, one after another. Meanwhile "Assignments" as simply in-game challenges you'll need to complete to unlock new weapons and dog tags in multiplayer.
Battlefield 3's "Back to Karkand" DLC will be hitting PSN on December 6th for $14.99 with the Xbox Live and PC downloadables launching on December 13th for 1200 MS Points/$14.99 respectively.
