As the Game Informer article announcing the January coverage of the upcoming South Park RPG astutely points out, the last time the foul-mouthed foursome had a major console release, it was the not-so-great 1998 Nintendo 64/Playstation first-person shooter by Acclaim.
Well, it may have taken a decade and some change to get that experience out of our minds, but after the relatively pretty positive notices for the downloadable South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play! back in '09, it looks like the world might be ready for another game feature Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. The show's creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker are on board, providing the script (and of course) the dialog for the upcoming publisher THQ and developer Obsidian.
Here's what GI had to offer in the way of early details about the game:
Unlike the cash-in Acclaim titles from over a decade ago, this ambitious project is a full-scale RPG for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. As the new kid in South Park, it'll be up to you to make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats.
