Sitting down in front of a "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" multiplayer station during Activision's celebration of all things "Call of Duty" this weekend, I prepared myself for what would surely be – well, another "Call of Duty" game. And, as it turns out, "Modern Warfare 3" multiplayer doesn't really break the mold much, but the changes made are more than enough to draw you right back to into the fray.

Ubisoft have spent a great deal of time pushing their Uplay service, including requiring the use of multiplayer codes with console versions of "Driver: San Francisco," not to mention insisting that the DRM system runs in the background on the same game's PC version. Well, if you're going to demand that Xbox 360 users enter a code – packaged with new copies of the game – it might help if you actually include the code in new copies of the game.

Resistance 3

In a first-person shooter, there's one thing that matters most: The gun in your hand.

You're staring at the damn thing for the vast majority of the game, and just about every objective requires that you use it in some way. You would think that, given the importance of the gun, every first-person shooter would make it their business to ensure that your gun is as good as it can be. But a surprisingly number of them fail miserably, leaving you with facile, impotent weapons that feel more like squirt guns than devices of war.

"Resistance 3" is not one of these first-person shooters. It happens to be home to the best weapons arsenal I've ever used in a first-person shooter, and it's a damn fun game because of it.

NOTE: This review is focused solely on the campaign portion of "Resistance 3." There is a significant multiplayer portion which was unplayable in natural settings before launch, so impressions on the multiplayer will come later this week.

Another "Call of Duty" game is upon us, and just like every other release in the franchise, you might be wondering about about your gear loadout. Well, wonder no more. We've put in the hard work and provided a list of all the equipment that was available during last night's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" multiplayer press event. That means every weapon, every perk, and even all of the strike chains – essentially the new killstreaks – for "Modern Warfare 3."

You may notice that in many ways the level of options have deferred back closer to what "Modern Warfare 2" offered in the way of equipment, as opposed to the crazy customization options provided in "Call of Duty: Black Ops."

Feel free to peruse the list below, because now's your chance to start planning that custom loadout. (Note: This is a work in progress. Many items were lacking a thorough description as of this writing, and weapon attachments were unavailable. We'll update them as the weekend progresses. So check back!)

Mortal Kombat

The "Mortal Kombat" franchise has something in common with most of its characters: it just won't die. It's been 19 years since the original was released, and, after a little bit of a rough patch, the series seems to be alive and kicking its latest reboot. In honor of a successful relaunch, Warner Bros. Interactive has collected the original three games in the series and released them on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN as the "Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection."

"Deus Ex: Human Revolution" has certainly moved into the realm of "hit game." Hell, the Square Enix title was the only one capable of ending the long-reign of "Zumba Fitness" on the UK game-charts. Well, even with all the positive attention the game has received, even with the general sense of approval in regards to the game's characters, one particular character has left some feeling rather uncomfortable.

"Call of Duty XP" is just about to kick off, and it looks like Activision have set up a huge spectacle. There's the real-life recreation of the "Modern Warfare 2" Pit, a paintball course that looks like the famous Scrapyard level, and even musical performances from The Dropkick Murphys and Kanye West. If you were waiting until the last minute to grab some tickets, I unfortunately have some bad news for you: "Call of Duty XP" is now officially sold out.

When they're not developing popular shooters, Epic Games sure know how to put an emotional trailer together. With every "Gears of War" release, the company issues forth a trailer that incorporates a seemingly out-of-place, sad song played over crazy action. The first "Gears" trailer used the haunting "Mad World," as sung by Gary Jules. "Gears of War 2" video featured Devotchka's "How It Ends." Today, Epic has released the latest trailer for "Gears of War 3" and – big surprise – it features a real tear-jerker from Mazzy Star, "To Dust."

You can check out the video posted by Machinima this morning below.

Red Dead Redemption

It was teased back at the end of June, but it seems Rockstar's promised free DLC pack for "Red Dead Redemption" is finally heading our way. Titled "Myths and Mavericks," the pack will include a whopping 14 new maps for play in multiplayer, as well as eight new character skins, letting players take on the roles of some of the memorable NPCs from the campaign. The pack is scheduled to release on September 13 for Xbox Live and PSN.
