The game industry, like most entertainment media, is continually moving toward an all-digital future. While broadband speed and prevalence in the United States isn't quite to the point yet where publishers can consider entirely doing away with physical software, it's obvious that disc-based games are not long for the world. Presently, you can download plenty of titles digitally, but really, downloadable add-on content is what's really directing the publishers' attention.

THQ is no exception, and with the upcoming release of "Saints Row: The Third," the company is looking to expand their downloadable-content model exponentially.

Natalya Netselya is an incredibly talented person. Where some artists work in the mediums of paint, clay, or charcoal, Netselya uses sand to create incredible pieces. She applies the sand by hand over a table that is lit from below, using her fingers to add seemingly impossible details. You can almost feel the movement of her subjects, as recognizable characters and settings emerge from the granules. While there are plenty of videos online featuring Netselya's work, today is the first time she applies her craft to videogames.

Crysis

This may come as a shock to some, but there was actually a "Crysis" game before "Crysis 2." Yes, I realize if you didn't own a super-cooled gaming PC in 2008, you may not have been aware of the original game or, more likely, you decided to ignore it, knowing that you didn't have a prayer in running it. If that's the case and you started your career with "Crysis 2," Crytek is offering up a chance to fill in the blanks. The developer will be releasing the original "Crysis" on XBLA and PSN in October.

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection

Sony's Team ICO have a knack for creating experiences in video games that feel unlike anything else. They have accomplished this twice on the PlayStation 2, with their two masterpieces, "ICO" and "Shadow of the Colossus." While both games are ten and six years old respectively, they are just the prelude to the studio's next game, "The Last Guardian," and what better way to remind your fans of how good your games are, than to re-release them in high definition. Following in the footsteps of some other, high profile, re-releases "ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection" brings these two beloved games to the PlayStation 3.

The summer drought is coming to a close, and just over the horizon we can make out the oncoming horde of fall videogames. This holiday season is crammed full of impressive titles – seriously have you looked at the line-up? – all vying for your dollar. So, when I heard Cabela's hunting games team were releasing a new property – beyond their Kinect release – I probably didn't pay as much attention as I should have.

Don't let the Cabela's brand and orange, plastic gun peripheral mislead you; "Survival: Shadows of Katmai" probably isn't what you're expecting.

The other week, Take-Two and Rockstar released a few new screenshots of "Max Payne 3," featuring a slightly less hobo-tastic version of the game's main protagonist. There really wasn't much more in the way of info, except that Rockstar promised more details were "coming soon." Well, the company has delivered today, announcing that Payne's third adventure will hit North American and European shelves in March 2012.

In a zombie apocalypse, a weapon is a must-have, and while traditional weapons like baseball bats and crowbars will keep you alive for a small amount of time, the true survivors are going to be packing custom gear. "Dead Island" attempts to replicate this with custom weapons designed based on blueprints scattered around the zombie-filled island of Banoi.

These custom weapons require a blueprint to unlock, at which point you can build the weapons at any work bench, presuming you have the ingredients. These usually require a base weapon, paired with seemingly-random objects scattered throughout the world.
