The "Gears of War" franchise has always had a strong multiplayer component. But what is has lacked is an incentive for playing that multiplayer component. No, fun is apparently not enough. In the era of "Call of Duty," people expect tons of unlockables to encourage that just-one-more-round attitude and, in Gears of War 3, Epic has delivered.
There is a ton of stuff to unlock in "Gears of War 3," from weapon skins to playable characters to weapon-specific executions and mutators which modify the way you play. This guide is dedicated to showing you just what you need to do to unlock each and every thing in the game, and we'll be updating it as more unlockables get added to the mix.

UPDATE: All this patch talk has us confused! Seems the "day one" patch did arrive on PC last week. The upcoming PC patch is more for minor fixes and tweaks.
ORIGINAL STORY: "Dead Island" is a bit of an odd bird. At times, it's gorgeous, at other times, it's horrendously ugly. Sometimes the multiplayer works flawlessly, and other times it's a struggle just to invite someone into your game. And, despite all of that, I was more than happy to spend 30 hours romping through Banoi, bashing zombie heads in with an electrified sledgehammer.

"Fallout: New Vegas" may have been plagued with unfortunate glitches and the occasional game freeze after its release, but it's so hard to stay away from that post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. The characters and story are what draw you back in, and with few exceptions, the downloadable-content from Obsidian really elevated the experience. Today, the team have released a trailer for the fourth – likely final – expansion, "Lonesome Road."

Grab your pickaxe, because the long-awaited "Minecraft" adventure update – a.k.a. beta version 1.8 – has launched. Now's your chance to discover some hidden villages full of weird buildings and spend your time looking at the new Endermen mobs from the corner of your eye. If you're not in an adventuring mode, the new update also includes "creative" mode, so you can start building that to-scale replica of your town or whatever weird stuff you've been dreaming about making.

We've got good news and bad news regarding the status of your "Diablo 3" beta invite. The bad news is that you probably don't have it yet because, if you did, you'd likely be playing instead of reading this post. The good news is that your invite may just come any day now, as Blizzard is already well into public testing and they seem to be adding more players by the day. If it makes you feel any better, I'm still not one of them, so we're in the same boat.
To make your wait a bit less painful, we've compiled the skills list for all five classes in "Diablo 3," including the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Witch Doctor and Wizard. Sure, reading isn't as good as playing, but when you alternative is solitaire, you make the best with what you've got.

"Dead or Alive" is such a weird series. What started out as a fast-paced 3D fighting game from Team Ninja somehow morphed into this franchise about women with ridiculous breast physics. Few other developers can claim they took a fighting genre title and somehow spun the story off wherein a main character tricks women into vacationing on an island – and playing bikini volleyball.
Regardless, "Dead or Alive 5" is on its way, and there's no immediate signs of volleyball or shopping.

"Max Payne 3" was originally planned to release in late 2009. And now here we are in September of 2011 getting our first trailer. But, hey, compared to the delays "LA Noire" went through, that's practically speedy!
Tonally not much has changed with the franchise. This still appears to be a dark tale of a broken man who never seems to catch a break, but does have some pretty handy reflexes. Max is no longer a cop, though. Instead it seems he's down in South America working for the private sector, protecting unscrupulous businessmen in Brazil.

Gamers may be an intensely passionate bunch about their electronic hobby, but they're also consistently finding ways to give back to the community. Thanks to wonderful charities like Extra Life and Child's Play, the industry and fans are able to donate to great causes simply by participating in something we all love doing anyways. Next month, Microsoft are asking Xbox Live gamers to help in raising money for the Children's Miracle Network.

So maybe Nintendo's 3DS Press Conference 2011 wasn't exactly produced with North American gamers in mind. Beyond the fact that the entire event was streamed without subtitles, and was intended more for Japanese audiences, there were a few decent moments. Regardless, Nintendo had some news for you Yankees today with release dates confirmed for two first-party 3DS titles.

Last night, Nintendo held a pre-Tokyo Game Show conference about the 3DS. Well, it was billed as "3DS Conference 2011," but much of the event didn't exactly feel like a 3DS conference at all. Almost the first half of the event actually focused on Wii titles, and regardless of the platform, the entire affair felt extremely directed towards a Japanese audience; not a stretch considering it was a Japanese-geared presentation. Still, there were a few surprises – not all of which were delightful news.
Less exciting than an announcement of a "Culdcept" title for 3DS, "Kid Icarus: Uprising" has found itself pushed into sometime in 2012.
