Natalya Netselya is an incredibly talented person. Where some artists work in the mediums of paint, clay, or charcoal, Netselya uses sand to create incredible pieces. She applies the sand by hand over a table that is lit from below, using her fingers to add seemingly impossible details. You can almost feel the movement of her subjects, as recognizable characters and settings emerge from the granules. While there are plenty of videos online featuring Netselya's work, today is the first time she applies her craft to videogames.
The European PlayStation blog recently hosted a video of Netselya's work, where she used her talents to build some recognizable scenes from "Uncharted 3." Check out the video below.
"I've been creating imagery in sand for almost five years now, but this is the first time I've created a piece inspired by a videogame," the artist wrote. "As 'Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception' takes place in the Arabian desert, it provided the perfect backdrop for my sand art."
I think the most interesting aspect to Netselya's art is the sense of how it feels so temporary. When she's done creating her piece – even after what boils down to some excruciating detail – she just swipes it away and starts again. Can you imagine creating scenes like that, then just throwing it away? Crazy.
I love how about eight minutes in, Drake just comes out of nowhere. How in the hell does she manage to make that bandolier like that? And did you notice the belt buckle?
