'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' DLC, 'The Missing Link,' Coming In October

Posted 9/6/11 6:03 pm EST by Russ Frushtick in Uncategorized

Deus Ex

It's now two weeks after I finished "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" for the first time, and the game remains one of the most enjoyable titles of 2011. If you haven't had the chance to delve into Eidos Montreal's massive RPG shooter, you owe it to yourself to do so before the holiday season really gets packed.

As for those who have played through the game, it seems Eidos is not quite done with you. The company has been hinting at new DLC for the title with an ARG and today they made it official. A new DLC pack, "The Missing Link," is scheduled for release in October.

"The Missing Link" mission will take place within the timeline of the game. For those who are familiar, there's a sequence in the game where Adam basically blacks out for a few days. The DLC will occur within that timeframe, aboard an ocean freighter. Here's the official description:

"After being tortured by Belltower agents and having his augmentations disabled, Adam Jensen must rely solely on his basic capabilities to escape from a freighter, destined for an unknown location. While fighting for his survival on the ship, he uncovers another layer to the conspiracy that he never would have suspected. As Adam, befriend new, mysterious allies and fight ruthless enemies to discover what was happening in the shadows during the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution!"

It's the bit about the augmentations that has me the most curious. Building up augmentations in the main game takes quite a long time, so I have to imagine the process is sped up significantly in the DLC. It also makes me wonder just how long of a mission we're talking about, since even the longest missions in the original game were no more than an hour or so.

All this speculation really doesn't matter, as I'll ravenously download the DLC the moment it releases. If it's anywhere near the quality of the main game, it's sure to be quite special.
