Guillermo del Toro, the imaginative director of "Hellboy" and "Pan's Labyrinth" is working on a new game franchise with THQ and Volition. Officially announced at last year's Video Game Awards, "inSANE" is not planned for release for several years, but we were able to catch up with the director to see if there were any updates he could share on the project.

News of odd domain registrations tied to game publishers is pretty darn common these days. It used to feel like an exciting thing when someone would stumble upon some secret little factoid that a company's PR didn't want the world to see yet, but anymore, it's starting to feel like these little "discoveries" actually are the PR campaign. Currently hidden in broad daylight is the peculiarly-named "Citizen Skywatch." There's an obligatory vague website, a cryptic Twitter account – you know the drill.
So what is "Citizen Skywatch?" I'll place my bet on a campaign for Take-Two and 2K's upcoming "XCOM."

At last count, I believe there are about 800 supervillains lined-up for "Batman: Arkham City." OK, maybe there's not that many, but it seems like we're seeing new footage of a different Gotham ne'er-do-well every couple of weeks. Not that I'm complaining; Rocksteady has consistently impressed the hell out of me with each character reveal. Today's trailer is no exception, as Rocksteady shows off a particularly excellent looking Mr. Freeze.
Check out the trailer right after the jump.

In the first 30 seconds of "Toy Soldiers: Cold War," you kill about 300 guys. This has to be some sort of record. You boot it up, select campaign, and suddenly you're behind a minigun with unlimited ammo, just loading on a sea of tiny, Red Menace soldiers. It may be the most satisfying first 30 seconds of any game I've ever played. And, thankfully, the game doesn't drop off after that.

EA really wants their new digital distribution service, Origin, to succeed. The service's most anticipated release, "Battlefield 3," is coming exclusively to Origin, and EA is doing everything in its power to ensure that people pick up the game there instead of from retailers. Thus far, EA has rewarded those who pre-order on Origin with in-game items and access to the upcoming beta for "Battlefield 3." Seems they're taking it one step further, now.

Ever since the launch of Google Plus, the search giant has been trying to convince the world that Facebook is old news. One of the ways it's attempting to do this? By showing off how it's able to do all the things Facebook was able to do, albeit with a cleaner, more minimalist interface. With the rise of "Farmville," gaming has become a big part of Facebook, and, starting today, it's now a big part of Google Plus. Gaming, I mean...not "Farmville." Yet.

If you're a big fan of Valve's Steam service and the "Battlefield" franchise, there's an awfully good chance you're less than pleased about the current rift between EA and Valve. "Battlefield 3" is not making appearance on Steam, but you're more than welcome to download the game from any number of other digital retailers – including EA's own Origin. Well, if you thought buying the PC version at a brick-and-mortar retailer or somewhere other than Origin meant you could avoid EA's service all together, I'm afraid that isn't the case.

"Metal Gear" creator Hideo Kojima is about as prolific on Twitter as Guided By Voice's Bob Pollard is with songwriting. The guy just tweets absolutely everything that pops in his head, like what he's eating and existential thoughts on architecture. Well, today Kojima actually dispersed with some knowledge on the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection," letting us in on some (confusing) details for what's looking like a promising release for series fans.

Game mods are an amazing way for fledgling – or even proficient for that matter – developers to use an existing game's framework to create their own vision. The "Half-Life" series has seen its share of impressive mods, including the recent "Stanley Parable," but few compare to the first-person shooting wonder that is "Counter-Strike." The series started it's life as a "Half-Life" mod back in 1999, before Valve quickly realized its potential and published the game under their own mantle. Today, almost twelve years to the day since the game's original beta, Valve has announced "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive."

There's little doubt that the world has fallen in love with the fruit-slicing phenomenon that is "Fruit Ninja." The game has been a tremendous success on mobile devices and just recently debuted on the Xbox 360. Its march to fruit domination will continue next week with the release of the beta for "Fruit Ninja Frenzy" on Facebook. Halfbrick, the game's developer, gave me access to "Frenzy" a few weeks ago, and since then I've sliced many a piece of fruit (14,243 at present count). It's with that knowledge that I present to you this guide to being the very best Fruit Ninja you can be.
