Remember fellow gamers: always read the fine print. Especially when you're signing up for any of the online-based services that bubble up on what seems like an almost daily basis. Case in point, EA's new Origin service. The publisher's client includes an online store where you can purchase PC games, as well as running ever-so-conveniently in the background while you're playing said games.

While EA has stirred up a bit of controversy with Origin lately, namely around "Battlefield 3" remaining absent from Valve's competing Steam service, it's now been revealed that Origin would like to help itself to your personal information, as well.

We're only three weeks away from the release of "Gears of War 3," and anticipation is obviously building. If you just can't wait for a few weeks, Epic Games is willing to help you out, with the release of the "Gears 3" opening cinematic. It's the whole thing, in all its glory, so if you're conversely appalled at the concept of seeing any piece of the game early, don't watch this.

That's right – see if you can look away. Just try to keep yourself from checking out the awesome video that lurks just beyond the jump. I'm sure you can do it (no you can't).

Anomoly Warzone Earth

There was a time not too long ago when the prospect of bringing a game from the PC to a mobile device was inevitable disaster. The iPad, however, has managed to prove that it can not only match the quality of an original PC game, but at times it can best it, offering a better play experience with a touch screen than a mouse and keyboard could ever muster. Past examples include "Plants vs. Zombies," "World of Goo" and "Osmos," all of which were considerably more enjoyable on the iPad. Now joining that delightful crew is "Anomaly Warzone Earth HD."

Deus Ex

OnLive and Square Enix made a surprise announcement yesterday, saying that new, retail copies of "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" on PC would include a voucher which would allow players to enjoy the game through the OnLive service without having to pay for another copy. Basically, you could buy one copy and choose to install it normally, or, if your PC doesn't have enough gaming muscle, you could choose to stream it through OnLive at no extra cost. Pretty nice, huh? GameStop doesn't think so. Multiple reports are now saying that Gamestop executives are asking that employees open new copies of "Deus Ex" on PC and remove the OnLive voucher.

"Call of Duty XP," the "Call of Duty" fan convention taking place in Los Angeles over Labor Day weekend, is sounding like it's going to be an impressive experience. Activision already announced that the event would feature appearances by celebrities like Will Arnett, but now comes a reveal that Kanye West will actually close the event with a performance on Saturday night, September 3.

Portal: No Escape

As independent film has become cheaper and more accessible to the masses, the quantity has certainly gone up. But, with that, so has the quality of a few select, talented filmmakers. Valve has never stated that they have any interest in turning "Portal" into a film franchise, but Dan Trachtenberg went ahead and took his own shot, making a short film detailing the life of a female prisoner and her discovery of a certain kind of gun that makes holes. Not bullet holes, mind you...well you'll just have to see for yourself.

PlayStation Home. I'm going to be completely honest here, and admit that I've barely played around with the PlayStation 3's social application. Now, I'm not denying it's great looking, or that it doesn't contain neat content related to PlayStation brand products – but I've personally never found it all that exciting. It's never really risen above a glorified chatroom, in my opinion, but hopefully Sony is going to change some of that with a new reboot.

Jetpack Joyride

There's little doubt in my mind that "Machine Gun Jetpack" was my most anticipated iOS game of 2011. Unfortunately that's no longer the case. Now "Jetpack Joyride" is my most anticipated iOS game of 2011! Yes, the game from Halfbrick Studios (the squad behind the "Fruit Ninja" phenominon) has done a last-minute name change. The team has announced that the newly-retitled iOS release is scheduled for release on September 1.

Last year, Epic Games announced that "Gears of War" fans would have the ultimate say on the fate of character Carmine. If you purchased a t-shirt – either "Save Carmine" or "Carmine Must Die" printed on the front – you had the opportunity not only to decide what would happen, but to donate to a great cause, as well. When all the votes were tallied, the campaign had raised over $150,000 for Child's Play. We won't really know Carmine's fate until "Gears of War 3" releases, but it sounds like Epic have taken precautions to ensure it's a surprise either way.
