'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' Allegedly Receiving Cargo Ship DLC

Posted 8/31/11 2:34 pm EST by Matt Clark in PC, PS3, Xbox 360

A big part of "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" is hacking through computer systems, extruding information and shutting down security systems. So, if Eidos Montreal were to release some new content, whatever that may be, wouldn't it be cool if the entire process turned into a bit of a game, offering up codes for fans to decipher. Well, that's precisely what they've done, and looks like we could hear about "Human Revolution" downloadable-content soon.

The "Human Revolution" title screen contained a mysterious code; a long string of numbers and symbols that seemingly looked like gibberish. Thankfully, the internet hive mind was soon on the case, and according to Blues Clues, the hunt has lead to a strange image (as seen above).

The original code somehow led internet sleuths to 13311tower.com, though I'm still not entirely sure how. Regardless, the site was full of cryptic imagery, including the Bell Tower security logo from "Human Revolution."

Though they were close to solving the puzzle – well, this portion of it – some Eidos Montreal employees offered help in the form of tweeting codes. Clicking on the all-seeing eye, the code-crackers deciphered a login and password for the site, which lead to the picture. So, the obvious question: what does this mean?

Though there are more than a couple theories, I would say we're going to see a "Human Revolution" DLC announcement soon, perhaps even Sunday (as shown on the image's timestamp). That said, a holiday weekend seems like an odd time to make such a reveal. As for the "what's the link?" line across the image? Maybe it's the link to the original "Deus Ex?" Maybe Eidos will add Bigfoot as a playable character -- please be true.

According to an alleged source speaking to VG247, the code hijinks are a buildup to DLC that takes place on a cargo ship. One astute commenter noted that there is a portion of "Human Revolution" where Jensen enters a cargo ship, but we don't see what happens over that passage of time. Maybe we're getting some previously cut gameplay?

We'll be sure to post any information we discover about the – potential – new DLC.
