We're only three weeks away from the release of "Gears of War 3," and anticipation is obviously building. If you just can't wait for a few weeks, Epic Games is willing to help you out, with the release of the "Gears 3" opening cinematic. It's the whole thing, in all its glory, so if you're conversely appalled at the concept of seeing any piece of the game early, don't watch this.
That's right – see if you can look away. Just try to keep yourself from checking out the awesome video that lurks just beyond the jump. I'm sure you can do it (no you can't).
Now, I'm not entirely sure why Epic decided to release the entire opening of their unreleased game, but damn it looks good. Normally, one would think that permitting footage to go out into the wild prior to release would be – well, kind of a bad idea. Usually game companies aren't in the business of shoving game materials out the door early.
That's not to say that there are any major spoilers here, assuming you've played the two previous games. There's the shot of a tropical island, Anya cleaning her gun, and some general moping around by the COGs who are more than aware that they're about to meet the end of the world, Lambent-style.
Regardless, it's hard not to be excited about "Gears 3," the last entry in such an iconic series. Well, they say it's the last entry; we've been down that road before.
