It's always exciting when a new "World of Warcraft" expansion launches, and "Cataclysm" was no exception. That night, the city centers were crammed full of players, waiting and hoping that something insane was going to happen when Deathwing was unleashed upon the world of Azeroth. Well, in truth, the lead-up to "Cataclysm" may have been more exciting than the full launch, but the evolution of the story in "World of Warcraft" still keeps you coming back for more.
It's not an announcement of a full expansion yet, but it looks like the 4.3 patch is the end of the "Cataclysm" story arc.
According to Gamona.de (via WoW Insider), the next "World of Warcraft" patch will add a Deathwing raid, finally taking down that fire-breathing jerk. Beyond the boss fight, you'll also get two new 5-person dungeons. There are no details as to the contents of those dungeons yet, but hey – that's half the fun of patch day.
In addition to the new playable content, patch 4.3 will provide a couple of new options in the way of storage and your character's appearance. The features – called Void Storage and Transmogrifier, respectively – are no small matter.
The Transmogrifier will allow you to change the look of your toon's armor, without potentially sacrificing the various desired effects of higher-ranking gear. For instance, say you have a piece of plate armor with specs that you're absolutely in love with, but it makes you look like a total goofball. Thanks to the Transmogrifier – what's up with that name? – you can actually skin that ugly plate with a more eye-pleasing piece of armor, all while maintaining those killer abilities. Great, right?
Void storage is – well, it's a way to increase armor storage capacity. If you play "World of Warcraft," you've likely found yourself in a rut before where hefty armor is clogging up your bank slots. Based on the name, I'm assuming you can store your armor in an ethereal state.
Of course, bank slots cost gold, and there's no doubt that an enormous Void Storage area is going to cost a pretty penny from your character's purse. I'm just hoping – and the same goes for the Transmogrifier – that it only costs virtual cash.
A specific release date for 4.3 has not yet been announced.
