As "Modern Warfare 3" nears launch in November, Activision has no interest in letting the franchise cool down before that. To this end, they're releasing yet another map pack, titled Rezurrection [sic], for "Call of Duty: Black Ops," this time focused on zombie levels. As we learned last week, the pack will include four of the zombie maps from "World at War," as well as one brand-new zombie map, "Moon." For those that purchased the Hardened or Prestige Edition of "Black Ops," they'll get this map pack for free. After all, they already had the code to download the "World at War" zombie maps, so really it's just one new map for them. But it's free, so no point in complaining. For everyone else, the pack will run $15.
A new trailer was released today, showing off the Rezurrection map pack in action. Footage of the "Moon" map will be of the most interest, since the rest of the maps are simply returning from "World at War." "Moon" will introduce the concept of zero-grav, airless gameplay, which results in floaty controls and higher jumps. The sound will be altered, as well, giving the sense that you're truly in a zombie vacuum.
New wonder weapons are also hinted at, including a gun which causes zombies to inflate and explode. There's also some fancy dual-wielding of laser pistols.
This all begs the question, will this be the final map pack for "Black Ops" before "Modern Warfare 3" hits? Brian Tuey, the Audio Director Treyarch, seems to imply as much, saying "[Moon] is really for the Zombie fan. Sort of our season finale, really."
