Reckless Getaway

There are many racing games on iPhone and iPad. Probably too many. Some manage to set themselves apart, but most of them just rip off "R.C. Pro-AM" and call it a day. "Reckless Racing," from Pixelbite Games, is one of the better ones, with some of the best controls and graphics for the genre. That same team is back for an even more intriguing sequel: "Reckless Getaway."

Portal 2
By Brian Phares

I am Beethoven, wielding my two grand masters wands and controlling an orchestra of portals and evil robots. That is essentially what I look like as I play the first "Portal 2" pack DLC with Razer's motion-sensing Hydra controller. Want to know how it stacks up to the good old keyboard and mouse? Check after the break to find out.

Rumors have been circling lately that someone was attempting to acquire "Plants vs. Zombies" developer PopCap Games. Given their recent obsession with the iOS market – just the other day, the company announced that their Origin service was coming to iOS devices – Electronic Arts always seemed like the likeliest buyer. Well, the publisher has just announced via press release that they have acquired PopCap for $750 million.

UPDATE: Apparently, the reporter at Business Insider mistakenly heard the term "Xbox, Music" -- which is used to issue commands to the Kinect -- and thought it referred to the Zune Pass music service. Which makes much more sense. Sorry about the mix-up.

ORIGINAL STORY: These days, there are quite a few options out there if you're looking to stream music through your internet-ready device. Services like Pandora, Last.fm, and Sony's Qriocity are readily available on a wide variety of hardware, including gaming consoles. Microsoft's own Zune brand already maintains a presence on Xbox Live in the form of a download marketplace and music streaming through a Zune Pass subscription. Now, the status of Zune on Xbox has come into question, as CEO Steve Ballmer has announced the simply-titled Xbox Music.

Fallout: New Vegas

There are two types of "Fallout" fans. There are the fans that want a serious, albiet darkly comedic, portrayal of post-apocalyptic America, and then there are other fans who want a madcap, laugh-a-minute jaunt, filled with parodies and pop culture references. In short, fans either like the serious tone of "Fallout 1" or the goofy tone of "Fallout 2." "Fallout: New Vegas" actually managed to offer both, even including a trait which, when selected, offered more of the goofy for fans of that style.

Thus far, though, the DLC packs for "New Vegas" have been pretty grounded and serious. That all changes with "Old World Blues," the next pack which is scheduled to launch in a week. Just watch the trailer and you'll know what I mean.

Remember during the Sony E3 press conference when Irrational Games' Ken Levine appeared on stage, seemingly telling us that "BioShock" would find its way to the upcoming PlayStation Vita? It was, at once, exciting and perhaps a bit confusing news as a fan of the franchise. What kind of game was Levine talking about? Would the handheld "BioShock" be nothing more than a port, rehashing the series' first game?

According to a new interview with Levine, it appears "BioShock Vita" – let's just call it that for now – is actually an entirely new game.

The Blocks Cometh

"The Blocks Cometh" was one of my most anticipated iOS games of last year, but when it finally launched, there was definitely a lot of work still to do. Control issues plagued the game, but, more importantly, it was extremely difficult to play when holding an iPhone in the vertical position. After a minor bug fix, the developers haven't updated "The Blocks Cometh" in months, but that changed today with a massive upgrade that makes the game infinitely more playable.

Batman Arkham City

The Riddler's role in "Arkham Aslym" was pretty limited. Sure, he left a bunch of riddles scattered about the island, but apart from a few taunting audio clips, you never actually interacted with the bequestionmarked gentleman in green. That's set to change with "Batman: Arkham City," which offers a much more robust Riddler experience, as evidenced by this new trailer:

Dust 514

Free-to-play games like "FarmVille" have become enormously successful on PCs, social networks and mobile devices, but they haven't really dipped their toes into the world of console gaming. The reasons why are obvious: Console manufacturers don't want to discourage people from buying other, non-free games. But, at E3, we learned that Sony is stepping up to the plate, allowing CCP Games to create "DUST 514," a subscription-free shooter set in the "EVE Online" universe. It isn't however, an entirely free game.

Uncharted 3

Last week we were sure to let you know that if you have a PSN account, even a non-PlayStation Plus account, you were free to download and play the "Uncharted 3" multiplayer beta. That's still the case, but not for very long. The beta comes to a close on July 14, this Thursday, so if you're looking to get a free taste, you'd better make your move.

In an attempt to keep things fresh, the folks at Naughty Dog have been changing up the contents of the beta, and this final week is no different. All of the modes are unlocked this week, but they're also adding a new mode, Co-Op Adventure, which will give you a taste of what to expect from the co-op campaign. There's also a new map in the mix: Yemen.
