During E3, EA and DICE announced their new player stat-tracking system for "Battlefield 3." Called Battlelog, the online service is obviously a direct competitor to Activision's "Call of Duty Elite" program. While there was quite a bit of focus on "Elite" today – beta invitations started arriving in select applicant's email inboxes – an alleged brief glimpse at Battlelog certainly warrants some attention.

Flying Wild Hog. That's the bizarre name – how do they come up with these? – of a recently formed Polish game studio. You may not recognize the name right away, but you'll definitely recognize the prior work of the developers behind the group. The studio is comprised of former People Can Fly ("Bulletstorm") and CD Projekt ("The Witcher 2") team members, hoping to apply their knowledge to a new sci-fi game, "Hard Reset." The game was vaguely mentioned a month back, but today we get our first glimpse at a short teaser trailer.

Reckless Racing

Yesterday I brought "Reckless Getaway" to your attention after having watched an extremely promising gameplay video. Today I've actually had a chance to play it, and while my comparisons to "Burnout" might not be quite spot-on, it is the perfect homage to "The Dukes Of Hazzard."

Netflix is everywhere. At this point, I'm just waiting for them to announce that their streaming movies and television shows are now available directly behind your eyelids whenever you close your eyes. Well, until the ocular implants arrive, we'll just have to settle for the service being available on nearly every internet-cable device known to mankind. Starting today, Netflix is available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, even as subscribers become irate over the the service's new pricing structure.

Modern Warfare 3

Looking back at my stats, I spent around 30 hours playing "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" multiplayer, but in "Modern Warfare 2," I only spent about a third of that time. Why the discrepancy? Sure, prevalent hackers played a part in my frustration, but that wasn't the main reason. The main reason was that, in just about every objective-based mode, Party Chat was blocked.

Infinity Ward's rationale was that, by blocking Party Chat, it would encourage teamwork among strangers and cut down on cheating as Party Chatters wouldn't be able to join separate teams and give valuable intel to the other side.

While that's great for the most hardcore players, I'm really just interested in playing and chatting with friends. There were work-arounds using Xbox Live security settings, but it was still an unnecessary chore every time I wanted to play "MW2" multiplayer.

Yesterday, at an event in New York City, I spoke with Robert Bowling, the creative strategist at Infinity Ward for "Modern Warfare 3," about whether the same Party Chat restrictions would be in place.

There's no denying that "L.A. Noire" is a big game. Hell, the Xbox 360 version spans three discs. After the game's release, Rockstar had announced a slew of downloadable content including four additional cases, some new suits for Cole Phelps, and a few enhanced weapons. The downloadable-content could be purchased a la carte, or pre-ordered – so to speak – by picking up the Rockstar Pass. One would think with the release of the game's most recent case, "Reefer Madness," that "L.A. Noire" had sung its last song; not true, according to an alleged Rockstar rep.

Now, I'm not trying to inflame the burning hatred of any PlayStation fanboys here, but I think there is an undeniable truth when it comes to comparing Xbox Live Arcade titles and PlayStation Network games. Frankly, Sony has generally lagged behind Microsoft on exclusive, downloadable games. That's not to say that PlayStation doesn't have some excellent titles – "Joe Danger" and anything "PixelJunk" immediately come to mind – but one only needs to look at promotions like Summer of Arcade to realize Sony has lacked the breadth of Microsoft's exclusive offerings.

According to their new investment program, Sony is hoping to change all that.

Metal Gear Solid 3DS

"Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater" is easily my favorite of the series, so when word came last year that a port would be making its way to the 3DS, I was pretty excited. The game was actually demoed at the E3 2010 Nintendo 3DS premiere, and it looked great. But, at that time, it wasn't much more than an interactive video, letting you rotate the camera around Snake without giving you any direct control. I played the latest demo for the game this week, which contained actual, honest-to-goodness gameplay, and I came away with some concerns.

"Ms. Splosion Man," the follow-up to Twisted Pixels' hit downloadable title "Splosion Man," hits Xbox Live Arcade today. The explosive platformer's 50 included levels should keep you occupied during these hotter-than-hell (seriously, it is so hot here) weeks. Not satisfied with just giving you those 50 stages, though, Twisted Pixel has announced that additional content will show up in-game thanks to Xbox Live's Title Managed Storage function.

Kirby Wii

The temporary title, "Kirby Wii" might imply otherwise, but this is not Kirby's first go-around on Nintendo's latest console. Last year saw the release of "Kirby's Epic Yarn" for Wii, which featured the famous pink puffball. But, despite being a rather enjoyable game, it wasn't a Kirby game in the truest sense. After all, how could you have Kirby game that doesn't allow you to suck up enemies and steal their powers? That's a Kirby staple! This oversight has been remedied with "Kirby Wii," a game that feels like a revamped take on the original "Kirby's Adventure."
