"Batman: Arkham Asylum" had a fair amount of references to classic franchise villains, but in terms of the actual villains you got to punch in the face in that game, there were only around 4 or 5. "Batman: Arkham City" seems to be rectifying this problem with an appearance by more major villains that one would think possible in a single game. So far we've seen Two Face, The Joker, Harley Quinn, the Riddler and Catwoman, but today adds three more to that list. You can see two of them, Penguin and Solomon Grundy, in the trailer up top.

I can't seem to reach the enemy installation down the street. My foe has set up two "Dominators" in my local park, and try as I might, I can't focus my attack spell on them. So, I get off the couch. I take a 10-minute walk down to the park, spending the next few moments releasing my little neighborhood from the grasp of an evil Architect mage. This is my realm, now.
No, this isn't some weird fever dream I had last night. I'm playing the location-based iOS game "Shadow Cities," using the physical world around me as the stage for a faction-focused, massively-multiplayer online role-playing game.

For an indie developer, Twisted Pixel's sure having a busy few months! Just a couple weeks ago we saw the release of the critically-beloved "Ms. Splosion Man," and it seems we're just two months away from their next release: "The Gunstringer." The Wild West-inspired, Kinect-supporting, marionette-heavy romp is scheduled to drop on September 13 for $39.99. Included in that price are a few nifty extras.

Few games would invite comparisons to "Super Metroid," as that's a heck of a lot to live up to, but "Escape from Puppy Death Factory" embraces Nintendo's classic open-world action adventure from the moment it begins. If you're a fan of Samus...and puppies, you need to play this game.

The iOS App Store has democratized game development, allowing a tiny team of people to create a game capable of reaching a massive audience. And, more importantly, that tiny team can make a boatload of money if the game's a hit. Unfortunately, the ease of developing for the App Store has resulted in people taking shortcuts in game design, stealing elements, entire game concepts and even artwork, as was the case with "The Blocks Cometh."

So here's the thing: I really wasn't all that super-excited about "Kinect Star Wars" based upon what I saw during E3. I'm not passing some level of critical judgement upon the game – I haven't played it hands-on yet – but while the lightsaber gameplay looked sort of fun, the "lets float over to the next fight" mechanic looked rather weak. Then, today during Comic-Con, LucasArts completely sold me with the announcement of a special edition, Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 with Kinect bundle.
It's an Xbox 360 that looks like R2-D2, that comes with a golden, C-3PO controller. The R2-D2 unit even makes custom sounds. It's as if a million wallets cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

There's something about the marketing campaign for "Battlefield 3" that just feels dark. Ever since we first laid eyes on the game's original teaser trailer, the video footage – with the exception of a tank combat sequence shown at E3 – have all carried this same ominous, very moody tone. Today, EA and DICE have released a new trailer, showing off a bit more of the absolutely chaotic "Battlefield 3" multiplayer, entitled "Operation Metro." Big surprise: it looks amazing.
Watch the trailer right after the jump.

This is looking to be a rather odd year for sports game franchises. While the NFL lockout looks as though it may start coming to a close as early as today, the NBA has only just begun to deal with their current labor dispute. Kobe Bryant is considering playing basketball in Turkey – no, really – and basketball fans could sure use a few heroes to help them weather what may turn into a game-less season. Where do they turn in this time of need? Why, to the power of limited-edition videogame covers, of course!

At this year's E3, Nintendo announced plans for a concert series to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "The Legend of Zelda." At the time they didn't have any concrete details to share, though they did give a sampling of what to expect in the form of a live orchestra during their press conference. The company sent along word today regarding scheduling and pricing details, and it's good news for those in Los Angeles, as it seems they're getting dibs.

Today is officially hereby decreed as, "videogame rumor confirmation day." Seriously, it's been non-stop. So far, we have confirmation of the previously rumored "Aliens: Infestation," "GoldenEye 007: Reloaded," and "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3." Now, Electronic Arts and DICE have decided to clear the air on those "Battlefield 3" Battlelog screenshots we showed you almost a week ago. In case you were wondering, they were – like everything else related to today's announcements – totally legit.
