From Dust

The "god game" genre hasn't gotten much love in recent years. Outside of a few releases like "Black & White" and, dare I say it, "Pocket God," it seems developers have lost interest in letting the player take on the role of an infinitely powerful deity. But I wouldn't start writing the genre's obit just yet. "From Dust," coming to XBLA tomorrow, is one of the most unique and intriguing god games I've ever played.

360 Remote

Microsoft has seen fit to redesign just about every aspect of the Xbox 360 since launch, but one thing they never bothered to touch was the official universal remote. The long, white wand first released right alongside the console in 2005 and, almost six years later, it has remained unchanged. Until November, that is. Yes, as you can see in the above shot, Microsoft is giving the remote a fresh look, and while they're at it, they're updating the wireless headset as well.

Machinarium

Just because a game's been out on the PC for a few years doesn't mean it can't find success as a new release on the iPad. For example, "World of Goo iPad," which sold a whopping 125,000 copies in its first month, despite having released on the PC several years earlier. Another indie charmer is attempting to do the same thing.

"Machinarium" released on PC in 2009 after winning awards at the Independent Games Festival for Excellence in Visual Art. The game is a throwback point-and-click adventure with gorgeous, hand-drawn visuals and an adorable robot protagonist. Even if you never played the game, you may have seen the protagonist in the PC version of "Super Meat Boy," where he was a playable character.

Namco Bandai had a big surprise for "Tekken" fans during Comic-Con this weekend. I'm not talking about a little surprise here, either. In fact, I would say the company had a plethora of "Tekken" announcements on hand to please even the most battle-hardened fan of the iconic franchise. As it turns out, you're not only getting a PlayStation 3 bundle called "Tekken Hybrid," but you can also play "Tekken Bowl" on your iOS device for the finest price: free.

Fallout: New Vegas Old World Blues

Bethesda Game Studios set the bar high with their post-release content for "Fallout 3." Unfortunately, for the first two DLC packs of "Fallout: New Vegas," Obsidian was clearly having a tough time matching that same level of quality. Both "Dead Money" and "Honest Hearts" had moments of greatness, but as complete packages, they weren't exactly unmissable "Fallout" experiences. "Old World Blues," on the other hand, is just that. Unmissable.

Incredibly, it's been over six years since we last saw the thieving raccoon that is Sly Cooper. Sucker Punch, the developer of the first three "Sly Cooper" games, have since moved on to their popular "inFamous" franchise, which has left a void for those hoping to take Sly out for another stealthy platformer spin. During Sony's E3 press conference this year, it was announced that the franchise would in fact get a fourth game in 2012. "Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time" is being developed by Sanzaru Games.

Sony has released a new trailer, showcasing the main protagonist of "Thieves in Time," an arrogant tiger who goes by the name of El Jefe. Check out the video after the jump.

Captain America: Super Soldier

I know better than to expect greatness from Sega-published super hero games. The last three comic franchise games they've put out, two "Iron Man" games and a "Thor" game (not to mention the various ports and multi-platform releases for those franchises) were far from good. Actually I'd go so far as to say they were terrible. Which brings me to "Captain America: Super Soldier." Though a definite improvement, thanks to the talent of Next Level Games, Sega is still no where near the levels reached by comic book games like "Batman: Arkham Asylum."

Comic-Con, the annual mega-nerd fest in San Diego, wrapped up the 2011 convention this past weekend. There were a few cool surprises that came out of show in regards to videogames, but even at a "fan" convention, there are some topics that are kept behind closed doors. Such is the claim of a forum user, who has posted what appears to be a title card for an upcoming "Resident Evil" game.

We're not entirely sure yet if he's a "man of mystery," but he's apparently "international." Who am I talking about? Oh, come now, surely you've heard of "Julius Styles: The International," the videogame which Wesley "To Wong Foo" Snipes is developing from his prison cell? Back in January, we told you how Mr. Snipes was pairing up with developer Lapland to bring his vision of a game that combines a bunch of his bad-ass action movie characters into one, bad-ass action videogame character.

Since that time, you have sat on the edge of your seat, waiting in anticipation for the day when Snipes would finally deliver the game – through a small hole in a door – to the masses. Well, that day is apparently August 11.

It's been a while since I ventured out to San Francisco to check out TellTale Games' upcoming line-up. At the time, the company formally announced that they were in development of a new game based upon Robert Kirkman's successful comic book series, "The Walking Dead." That was all the way back in February, and things have been rather quiet in regards to the game. Well, what better place to reveal new details on a comic book inspired game than at the grandaddy of comic book – well, it's not entirely about comics anymore – conventions?

Last night at Comic-Con in San Diego, TellTale gave us our very first look at the visuals of "The Walking Dead" game, thanks to the gorgeous screenshot you see above.
