Oh, PC and PlayStation 3 "Call of Duty: Black Ops" players. Exclusivity agreements are the bane of your existence. Xbox 360 owners have spent close to a month playing through the latest map pack, Annihilation, while you have been forced to sit on the sidelines, waiting. Well, it appears your wait is almost over. 13 more days of anxious waiting, and 15 bucks, will finally get you back into the action with some brand new "Black Ops" content.
Annihilation contains four new maps: a secret government hangar, a golf course, a retro drive-in theater, and a missile silo. There's more than maps, though, because Treyarch also included an update to their ever-popular zombie mode. Shangri-La will have you fighting off hordes of zombies inside a jungle temple.
It definitely sucks that PlayStation 3 and PC players have been forced to wait so long to play the same content that Xbox 360 players have been enjoying for a month. Unfortunately, the console competition is just as fierce as it's always been – well, almost, there's no Sega console anymore – and as long as one hardware manufacturer is willing to lay down some serious cash, exclusivity agreements will delay content for some players. I suppose it could be worse; instead of a delay, what if content like Annihilation was "only" available on Xbox 360?
What do you think about console exclusivity? Do you think it's completely uncalled for, or just an unfortunate part of the industry? Let us know in the comments.
