I can't say it's entirely surprising that Crytek, the developer behind the "Crysis" and "FarCry" franchises is working on a new title. Despite some strange happenings between EA and Valve's Steam service in regards to "Crysis 2," both franchises are generally popular, and it only makes sense that we'll soon see a new game from the studio. According to a LinkedIn profile discovered by Supererogatory, the team has been working on their next outing for a year.

I'll go out on a limb here and say it has the word "cry" in the title.

The events that recently transpired in Oslo, Norway are absolutely horrific and tragic. 77 Norwegians lost their lives at the hands of Anders Behring Breivik, a political crackpot who is currently detained. Breivik detonated a bomb outside an Oslo government building and then proceeded to gun down a large gathering of youth at a political retreat situated on a nearby island. Unfortunately, as it is so many times that abhorrent events like this transpire, there are those who seek to place the blame on video games. The fact that Breivik actually cited videogame titles in his "manifesto" certainly doesn't help matters.

Norwegian retail store, Coop Norway, has responded by removing video game merchandise from their stores.

MacBook Air

When Apple first launched the Air in 2008, it was an extraordinarily thin, but under-powered and expensive, laptop. The company's second attempt, last year's model, was much more feasible for a mainstream audience, offering a reasonable price point and great power for day-to-day activities like surfing the web and consuming media. Less than a year later, the MacBook Airs have returned. We've spent the last week testing out the 13 inch model, and if you're in the market for a new laptop, you should definitely pay attention.

As much as id Software's new game, "Rage," feels like a cliché – fighting mutants in a post-apocalyptic wasteland – that somehow seems perfectly acceptable, given the studio's storied past. These are the guys who more or less made the first-person shooter genre what it is today. There are still, incredibly, politicians and other podium orators who use "Doom" as an example of the videogame violence that will surely corrupt the minds of America's youth. So, yeah, when id makes a dark, gritty first-person shooter, I'm still interested.

The developers have just released a behind-the-scenes video of sorts, detailing the thought process behind the enemies of "Rage." The focus on providing variety to the player looks promising.

Resistance 3

There are plenty of people who enjoyed "Resistance: Fall of Man." There are admittedly fewer who enjoyed "Resistance 2." But it's safe to say I am in neither of those groups. They're not bad games, mind you, but they never felt like anything much more than passable shooters. Shooters attempting to match the quality of games like "Halo" and "Call of Duty," but never quite making it.

So it was with trepidation that I began playing the first few levels of "Resistance 3" on a preview build Sony sent over. And guess what? I'm suddenly on board.

Early in June, a funny thing happened. "Crysis 2," published by EA, suddenly disappeared from the Steam store. There was no explanation as to why the game had mysteriously vanished, and the only explanation came from an intentionally vague comment from EA, stating that Valve had booted the game from the service. This week, if you're a "Dragon Age 2" – also published by EA – fan, there's a chance you're looking forward to the new "Legacy" downloadable-content.

Well, bad news: now "Dragon Age 2" has vanished from Steam, as well.

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions

Outside of Nintendo, Namco may be the longest running video game company that still regularly supports the original games that put them on the map. At least once a year gamers are treated to remakes or rereleases featuring the likes of coin-op classics like "Dig Dug" or "Rally-X." However, for their latest 3DS rereleases, Namco dipped into two of their most famous wells with "Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions," for a dual-headlining compilation.

"Resistance 3" looms in the early portion of this fall's onslaught of game releases, and for fans of the franchise, you're probably getting anxious to play the game. There was a single-player demo released last month – if you purchased the "Battle Los Angeles" Blu-ray – but if you're excited to dive in to online multiplayer, Sony says your wait is almost over. Early access to the "Resistance 3" open beta begins on August 4.

Groove Coaster

Ever since the iPhone launched, folks have been trying to pull off rhythm games on the platform. There have been successes, like the "Tap Tap Revenge" series, "Rock Band" and "Bit.Trip Beat," but no game has come close to creating a better rhythm experience on iPhone than "Groove Coaster," a new release from Taito.

Just in case you're somehow unaware, "StarCraft" is big in Korea. No, I mean really big. Look at it this way: if "Saturday Night Live" ran a comedy sketch on next week's episode that featured the Terrans versus Protoss, probably about 2% of the country would have any clue as to what in the hell is going on. But in Korea, where Blizzard's real-time strategy game is practically a national pastime, everyone's pretty much in on the joke.

I have no clue what they're saying, but I enjoyed the sketch you'll see after the jump so much, I would watch an entire show devoted to this – in Korean.
