Fans of "Star Wars" and Traveller's Tales' ongoing Lego games franchise have something new to look forward to this fall. No, it's not another "Lego Star Wars" game – seriously, there's already a lot of those – but it does feature the characters from the games. It looks like the plastic heroes are coming to the small screen for a television special this September. The special is based on "Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars," which means it's a television special, based on a video game, based on a television show. My eyes just crossed.
Movie and television site ComingSoon.net has spied a poster for the "Lego Star Wars" special at the Licensing International Expo 2011. The poster looks exactly like the cover of "Lego Star Wars III," featuring Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin brandishing their plastic lightsabers. Beyond that – well, that's really all we know for now.
While the poster claims that the special is "coming fall 2011," ComingSoon have found out that the show will actually air in September.
Here's my question: how in the world is this show going to work? If you've played any of the Lego games, you're well aware that the characters are not the most vocal bunch in gaming. Sure, it's only a television special – presumably only sixty minutes in length – but it seems like it's going to be hard to really captivate audiences with a group of mute characters that communicate through a series of facial expressions and the occasional unintelligible noise.
Of course, the Teletubbies were wildly popular at one point, so what do I know?
