'BioShock Infinite' Fans Drool Over Real-Life Sky-Hook

Posted 6/14/11 3:15 pm EST by Russ Frushtick in News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

BioShock Infinite

In case you missed our wrap-up yesterday, "BioShock Infinite" was our pick for the best game of E3 2011. One of the big reasons it stood out, apart from the remarkable visual style and intriguing storyline, was the sky-line. Used as the primary mode of transportation throughout the city of Columbia, you're going to be spending a lot of time riding the rails in "Infinite." But you're not just swinging a sweater over the top of the rail and hoping for the best? No, you've come equipped with a top-of-the-line sky-hook. And one lucky fan is now going home with it.

The sky-hook contest rewarded recent followers and re-tweeters of @IrrationalGames with a chance to win the prototype, and @equustel was selected as the winner. But fret not! The important thing to remember is that this is a prototype. Seems that NECA will be selling sky-hooks to all interested parties sometime in the future, so if you're interested in reenacting the civil war of Columbia, you've only got to pay up. (It does make me a bit worried that people will attempt to use their sky-hooks to sky-hook their way to an early demise, but I suppose that's a good way to thin out the stupid among us.)

The franchise has already recieved some premo merch from NECA, as you can see with their "BioShock 2" line. This is NECA's first time teaming up with Irrational, though, and we've already seen that Irrational is serious about authenticity. Here's an amazing, full-size Murder of Crows vigor bottle that Irrational handed out to members of the press at the first official reveal of the game. Can't wait to see what the duo has in store for us.
