Red Dead Redemption

Just because Rockstar has a newer release in "LA Noire" doesn't mean they've forgotten their old workhorse, 2010's "Red Dead Redemption." Yes, Rockstar's ode to the wild west continues trucking along, thanks to a surprisingly deep multiplayer mode and experience system, which rewards player success with new weapons, characters and horses. And apparently a zebra.

There's another big sale going on over at the Steam store right now. While there are always some great deals during these occasional discount days, my wallet somehow always manages to take a miserable beating. "Sure," you think, "I can't pass up this game for $9.99!" The next thing you know, you've made the same excuse to yourself a dozen times, and you're selling your blood plasma to pay your rent. What, that's never happened to you before?

Street Fighter 3 Third Strike

This era of downloadable gaming has been great for fans of retro releases, as classics have been reborn with new features like online play and achievements. Unfortunately, one of the problems with porting classic games is just how damn ugly they look when blown up to an HD screen. Since the graphics were never designed to work for a widescreen, HD display, retro games are often forced into small, 4:3 windows to keep their visual integrity intact.

Back in May, we told you about the mysterious filings made under the name "Bungie Aerospace." At the time, I theorized that the name had nothing to do with Bungie's next title, instead guessing that Bungie were actually developing a new game engine. Well, it looks like I was half-right, anyways. Bungie has finally revealed what Bungie Aerospace is, and while it has pretty much zero to do with the now-independent developer's next big game, it does sound fairly interesting.

Conventions like QuakeCon, BlizzCon, and PAX have found much success in giving die-hard gaming fans an outlet where we're able to gather with like-minded individuals. If you've never attended one of these events, you're really missing out on the experience. Sure, they tend to smell like a lower ring of hell, but they're also a place where video game enthusiasts can feel at home. Now, Activision is jumping into the convention arena, inviting fans to take part in "a 'Call of Duty' experience unlike anything they've ever seen before."

Have you been wondering what Respawn, the studio formed by former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, are actually up to? Ever since the legal debacle last year that saw the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" creators parting ways with Activision, fans have wondered what might be the pair's next move. Until now, the new studio's site – Respawn.com – was just a blank white page with an email address. Today, the site has relaunched with company profiles, forums, and a blurry image of (presumably) their first project.

Half Minute Hero XBLA

Japanese RPGs tend to be long. Very long. These days it seems like 20 hours in the bare minimum, with "Final Fantasy" releases stretching up around 50 or 60 hours. But is a quest that takes dozens of hours to complete instantly more epic than one that takes, oh, I don't know, 30 seconds? That's the question Marvelous Entertainment is trying to answer with "Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax."

The Bethesda vs. Interplay "Fallout Online" saga has now dragged on for over two years. Back in 2009, "Fallout 3" developer Bethesda filed a suit against original "Fallout" developer Interplay, claiming that the company had violated agreements reached between the parties in 2007. The crux of the matter centers around Interplay's attempts to get a "Fallout" massively-multiplayer online game out on the market. While both parties have slung some mud at one another, a new court filing by Interplay definitely has me scratching my head.

Limbo

One of the best downloadable games on XBLA was last year's "Limbo." It had everything we've come to expect from the indie space. It was creative, it was unique, it was artistic. If you haven't played it yet and own and Xbox 360, you owe it to yourself to do so. Unfortunately, if you only own a PS3, you've been out of luck, as the developer, Playdead, has insisted that the game will remain exclusive to the 360. But that exclusivity may in fact be nearing an end...at least if the Korean Ratings Board is any indication.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

In the last Iwata Asks, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's developer interview series, we learned some fascinating stuff from the original team behind "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." For one thing, did you know that "Zelda" creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, considered making it a primarily first-person experience? The latest Iwata Asks features Miyamoto himself, who gives some interesting insight into the game's development, including one aspect that would have changed the experience entirely.
