Do you know where your towel is? Have you spent any portion of today walking around with a towel? If so, I received some potentially very exciting news in my email inbox this morning. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, DON'T PANIC. Hothead Games has just announced that they're working on a new game based on Douglas Adams' beloved "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" book series. Surely great news for you froods out there.

Ah the public beta. Years ago, public betas were released solely as a means of testing a game's components before the final version was released, giving the developer time to make appropriate changes. That's still the case these days (see: the ridiculously overpowered sawed-off shotgun in the "Gears of War 3" beta), but public betas are also used as a means of getting the word out and building excitement for an upcoming title. It worked with "Gears of War 3," whose pre-orders skyrocketed after release, and it was also a tremendous success with the first "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare." Seems that Twisted Pixel's platformer sequel, "Ms. Splosion Man," is taking the same path, letting 10,000 fans test out the multiplayer portion of the title before the game's release later this summer.

There's still no sign of the PlayStation Store. Last week, we reported that Sony's development and publishing partners were given notice that the online marketplace may actually return today, May 24, instead of the previously announced deadline of May 31. It looks like PlayStation users will have to wait perhaps another week before they're able to access downloadable-content and games.

Free-to-play games are, generally, free for a reason. But, despite questionable gameplay and debatable levels of fun, some free-to-play games started making tons of money, and traditional game publishers started to take notice. Companies like PopCap and SOE have seen success with free-to-play games, and now Ubisoft has decided to jump into the mix with "Ghost Recon Online."

Fans of Sucker Punch's PlayStation-exclusive franchise, "inFamous" will soon have the opportunity to spend some extra coin for various Cole MacGrath goodies. Sony had previously announced a Hero's Edition for the upcoming "inFamous 2," but the company today detailed exactly what you'll find in that giant, premium cost box. More than just the usual art book or soundtrack, the Hero Edition may actually help you look like the electrified protagonist.

With the 3DS' library still lacking in just about every area, first adopters are about to begin being treated to the second wave of launch releases. One of the games that is hoping to begin to bolster the device's profile is D3Publisher's "Dream Trigger 3D." Offering an entirely new take on the shoot-'em up genre, the title had the potential to open up doors for new players. Unfortunately, those doors should've probably stayed closed.

Last night, during the NBA Western Conference Finals, Activision premiered the very first gameplay trailer for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3." I can't say I found myself all that interested in the Mavericks and Thunder basketball game – what can I say, I'm from Ohio – but the trailer definitely garnered my attention. Let's take a look at what the footage can tell us about what's sure to be one of the biggest games of 2011.
Check out the video, right after the jump.

There are certain game franchises that seem like ideal fits for the silver screen. Films based on action-heavy titles like "Tomb Raider" or spook-heavy titles like "Silent Hill" are easy to imagine, even before the first scene is shot. Some franchises, however, aren't so obvious. Take, for example, "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney," which seems to be the next film of noted Japanese director, Takashi Miike.

WATCH THIS POST FOR THE "CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3" GAMEPLAY TRAILER, COMING MONDAY, MAY 23 AT 9PM EST.
Two weeks ago, a huge amount of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" content leaked, revealing story details, screenshots and settings. And while the leak had plenty of juicy content to digest, it was lacking one thing: actual gameplay footage. There were screenshots, and even voice overs from the game's actors, but no gameplay footage, which makes tonight's premiere of the first gameplay trailer a pretty big deal, even if you've already dug through all of the leaked info.
Just what the trailer will include is still a bit of a mystery. My bet? Some scary people speaking Russian and blowing up landmarks all over the world. We'll be sure to update this post the moment the trailer is live, so stay tuned.

Look, I'm the first one to sport a dismissive grimace at the wide array of plastic junk that comes bundled with video game collector's editions. I've purchased quite a few, of course, but I know the various statuettes and other tchotchkes end up needlessly collecting dust around my house; something my wife is none to happy about. Still, there is no way in Hell I'm passing up on this "Gears of War 3" Retro Lancer. It will probably still collect dust, but it will look so amazing while it does.
