Is anyone really surprised about when a "Call of Duty" game launches in November anymore? Forget about astronomical alignment or any of that other crap, you can pretty much set your calendar based on the franchise's yearly fall releases. So, it's probably not a big shocker that rumors are starting to swirl around today that a new "Call of Duty" game is releasing on November 8.
EuroGamer is reporting that "multiple sources" have told the site that a new "Call of Duty" game will release on November 8, with an "internal database" found at UK retailer Tesco referring to the game as "Call of Duty: Project Collossus." I think "Collossus" is probably a placeholder, and it's pretty obvious we're actually talking about "Modern Warfare 3" here.
Just a week ago, we reported that Craig Fairbrass, the voice of Gaz in "Modern Warfare" and Ghost in "Modern Warfare 2," told a UK radio show that he had been called in to perform voice work in Los Angeles, possibly hinting that "Modern Warfare 3" production was in full swing.
There's currently no indication as to which development studios might be lending work to the project. It's sure to be either Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, or some combination of the two assisting what's left of the Infinity Ward team.
Either way, if you're a "Call of Duty" fan, you've probably already cleared out November on your schedule, so none of this is a huge surprise. Activision has an investors call around 1:30 PST this afternoon, when they will supposedly formally announce the game, so we'll be sure to let you know of any new details.
