iD software's upcoming first-person shooter, "RAGE," is still about four months away from release. The game was first announced way back in 2007, and despite the release of an iOS spin-off game last fall, new information about the game has been slowly distributed by publisher Bethesda. Today, the publisher announced a new way for "RAGE" and iD fans to get closer to the action, with a contest that just might score you a free trip to where the game was announced, QuakeCon.
There's two ways to win a trip to QuakeCon: either take the easy way out with a sweepstakes entry, or try to beat out the competition with your artistic talents. Either way, if you're interested in a chance to win, you'll need to complete a few tasks.
First, head on over to the "RAGE" Facebook fan page. Go ahead and click on the obligatory "Like" button to start the process off. Next, click on the "Graffiti Contest" sidebar link. You'll have to accept the "RAGE" app, which loads up a brand new page. Once there, you'll find two ways to win. Click on "Sweepstakes," and fill out your information as required. That's it; maybe you'll win a free trip, or maybe you'll win a "RAGE" t-shirt.
The second way to win the contest is a little bit trickier. If you've watched any footage of "RAGE," or checked out screenshots, you're likely familiar with the game's graffiti-strewn, post-apocalyptic environments. Bethesda is asking you, as a fan, to create your very own graffiti that may end up in the game and land you a free trip to QuakeCon (plus an iPad 2!).
Basically, you'll enter a Flash-based window loaded with picture creation tools. There's spray-paint (obviously), a paintbrush, and some stereotypically urban graffiti stamps. Just create your own design, keep it clean, submit it, and you're entered. Who knows, maybe you'll end up at QuakeCon.
