iCloud

Apple's annual Worldwide Developer Conference is nearing, and the company has revealed some of the major focal points for the keynote speech on Monday. Seems that iCloud will be the headliner of the day, with the first information regarding Apple's plans to allow users to upload media files and stream them from anywhere over an internet connection. In a somewhat surprise move, Steve Jobs will be taking a break from medical leave to deliver the keynote, which is scheduled for Monday, June 6, at 10am PST.

Hey, remember when Sony said the PlayStation Network would only be down "for a day or two," and how PlayStation 3 users were subsequently unable to play online for nearly a month? Remember how after PlayStation Network partially went back up on May 15, how the company said that other services – like PlayStation Store – would see full restoration no later than May 31? Well, today is May 31, and the PlayStation Store is still down. This time, Sony says the service is going back online "by the end of the week."

All right, gumshoes, let's – you know what, I'm done talking like the chief in "Carmen Sandiego." There's a good chance that you've already finished up your sleuthing through all of the main "L.A. Noire" cases, and you're looking forward to that downloadable-content that Rockstar has promised since the game's launch. The company previously mentioned a "Rockstar Pass," but details on the package's cost and contents were slim. Well, the silence is over, and we can finally let you in on what to expect for plunking down that hard-earned $10.

Call of Duty Elite

Ever since "Call of Duty" became a larger-than-life franchise, thanks mostly to its multiplayer, people have been waiting for word that Activision was going to begin charging a subscription fee. When word came that a new service was in the works for "Call of Duty," it sounded like the other shoe was about to drop. That service is "Call of Duty Elite," but it's not for-pay multiplayer. If anything, it's basically Facebook for "Call of Duty" fans. Parts of it will be entirely free, while other parts will require a subscription fee. Here's the basic rundown of what will be included:

Sure, playing a game like "House of the Dead: Overkill" on the Wii is "OK." The Wiimote essentially serves its purpose as a light-gun, of sorts, and listening to the goofy, forced swear words emanating from my Nintendo device sort of make me giggle. Still, when I'm playing a Japanese arcade-style shooter like "House of the Dead," I would appreciate some slightly crisper graphics. So, it's a good surprise to receive a press release from Sega today telling me that "Overkill" is getting a makeover for the PlayStation 3.

A sixty dollar investment to win a cool million? Not a bad deal. Just like last year, 2K Games offered one million bucks to the first person who could throw a verifiable perfect game – 27 outs without a hit – in its yearly baseball title, "MLB 2K11." It didn't take too long before someone managed to pitch that perfect game, but his experience with the genre is a bit surprising.

Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.

Atari is looking to keep Dungeons & Dragons alive with their latest release, "Daggerdale," as well as keep Producer Michael Fahrny employed as he manages the development teams. A Mac gamer at heart (one of the proud few), he got his start working at Vivendi before Activision took it over, and relieved him of his duties. He obviously landed on his feet, and has climbed the ladder, and one of gaming's most hallowed companies, or else he probably wouldn't be the subject of this week's Developer Pop Quiz.

BloodRayne

The "BloodRayne" franchise has been ignored for a long time, and for good reason. After two games, it was clear the nazi-fighting vampiress wasn't winning any awards for gameplay, originality or visuals. And the less said about the Uwe Boll-directed film the better. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone clamoring for more "BloodRayne," but after a trailer for this summer's downloadable release, "BloodRayne: Betrayal," I'm officially starting to clamor.

Well, the "Uncharted" film adaptation has hit another roadblock. As we reported over a year ago, "The Fighter" director David O. Russell was previously brought on board to helm the movie version of Drake's adventures. Now, it sounds like Russell and Sony have parted ways on the project, and that leaves further questions as to the casting of the film's main hero.
