"Mega Man Legends 3" is a big experiment for Capcom. Throughout the course of the game's development, the company will open certain development and design choices up to fans through online voting. Seems the experiment isn't just limited to the game's development process, but also to its release schedule. Capcom is planning on releasing a small portion of the game with the title, "Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version," as part of Nintendo's 3DS eShop launch festivities.

You knew this was coming. "Mass Effect 3" was the featured cover story in the latest issue of Game Informer, so it was only a matter of time before officially released screens made their way to the Internet. BioWare doesn't want you judging the look of the game based on blurry magazine scans posted on fansites, after all. Check out one screen up top and the other, featuring Commander Shepard trading fire with a Cerberus lackey on the Salarian homeworld, after the jump.

Late last year, former "Halo" developer Bungie launched its Bungie Beta Tester program. Fans were invited to head over to the official website and sign up for a chance to participate in surveys and playtests as the developer brings together its first non-"Halo" project since the franchise began. The sign-up closed in short order... but now it's open again. So sign up! Quick!

The charm of "Minecraft" doesn't really come through so well in screenshots. Videos do a bit of a better job (especially this one of a guy accidentally burning his house down), but you probably won't truly catch the bug until you've played the game. Until now, your options to do that for free were limited to the Classic version, which only allows you to place blocks. But now, thanks to a partnership with PC Gamer, Mojang has released a demo of the full game with almost every single feature included.

You don't have to know the Warhammer universe to love "Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War 2 - Retribution." You do have to be a PC gamer, but provided you fulfill that requirement, there is an excellent real-time strategy game waiting to be played. The game came out last month, and Relic Entertainment has concocted an nifty way of generating additional interest in the game, with the standalone release of one of its multiplayer modes, The Last Stand.

"No More Heroes" might not be the very best game on the Wii, but it is certainly the wackiest. It's fun, too, since you get to swing a lightsaber-alike around and cut bad guys into little bad guy bits. An enhanced version of the game was released in Japan for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 under the title "No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise." It is set for a PS3-exclusive port to North America and Europe later this year, but now there's a new listing in Japan for "No More Heroes: Red Zone." It's another PS360 port that adds even more content, and it's set for release on July 21.

Fans wait with excitement to see how Team Ico follows up its stellar work on 2005's "Shadow of the Colossus" in "The Last Guardian," but unfortunately, the developer isn't ready to show it yet. The game, which was originally set for a holiday 2011 release, now won't be coming until after the end of the year.

There were several factors which led to me not being excited about "Prey 2." One of the biggest was that the first game was, well, fine. Not a bad game by any means, but far from spectacular. When I finished the game, no part of me was saying, "Damn, I can't wait for more of this!" The second contributing factor to my lack of enthusiasm was this image. Not only was the first game just "fine," but now the sequel is starring a "Black Ops" wannabe. Things did not look good.
And then I saw the game and I was totally sold.

Fiery carcasses, frozen foes, electrocuted opponents, and pits of death can only mean one thing: a new "Mortal Kombat" game. Almost 20 years after its original release, Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios have resurrected one of the few Western fighting games that has barely survived the test of time, and helped solidify its place in fighting game history.

Remember how "Resident Evil 4" came out and fans went nuts because, in addition to being awesome, it tweaked a number of established genre conventions? Then "Resident Evil 5" came along and refined the great work done on the previous game, offering a graphically superior and better-tuned but overall similar experience. You could be forgiven for assuming that the inevitable "Resident Evil 6" would continue in that direction, but Capcom's got bigger plans than that for the future of the franchise.
