"L.A. Noire" is now being put through its ratings paces. That means more details are coming out about Rockstar Games' highly anticipated period cop action/drama. The BBFC and ESRB ratings descriptions are now in, bringing a host of new information on the game's cutscenes, story and content. There are some light spoilers ahead though, so beware of reading further if you want to remain completely pure and unspoiled.

The video game industry is among the most forward-thinking when it comes to doing charitable work. Just look at the efforts made by Grasshopper Manufacture and CCP Games in the wake of Japan's recent earthquake. One of the cooler charity drives, managed by Wolfire Games, is the Humble Bundle series, a pay-what-you-want offering that allows gamers to set their price for a bundled set of indie games and dictate how the money is split up between the Child's Play and Electronic Frontier Foundation charities. The latest in the series, the Humble Frozenbyte Bundle, is now live and offering some kickass games for a good cause.

A lot of people still aren't sure what to make of Xbox Live's Avatars. They're not as cute as the Wii's Miis and not nearly as creepy as some of the human-ish monstrosities that can be cooked up in PlayStation Home. Avatars fall somewhere in between the two, plus you can buy them stuff like lightsabers and pet Wampas (and other, non-"Star Wars"-related merchandise). The release of the Kinect peripheral changed all of that by inserting your Avatar into certain games. Nothing that gives you superpowers though. Bless Ubisoft then for seeing the need and addressing it, with the newly announced Kinect exclusive, "PowerUp Heroes."

"Portal 2" is finally out next week. Its hours-long predecessor stole the show in Valve's expansive "Orange Box" 2007 collection, but this will be the first full-length $60 release bearing the "Portal" title. All of the first-person puzzle gameplay is back, and then some. There's co-op. There are launch platforms. A star-studded voice cast. Long Fall Boots. Wait, what? Just hit the jump, you'll see.

Sucker Punch is only a few short months away from laying out a whole new chapter in Cole MacGrath's electrified adventures in "inFamous 2." The June 7-releasing PlayStation 3-exclusive offers a few improvements on the must-own 2009 original, including the addition of a user-generated content feature. A range of possible scenarios is highlighted in a newly released video from Sony, along with a second video that shows off one of the sequel's massive enemies, the Behemoth. Check them out after the jump.

BioWare is giving us "Mass Effect 3" later this year, which is a good thing for all of those fans left hanging after "Mass Effect 2" ended on a dire note. The first details on the game emerged last week, by way of a feature in the latest issue of Game Informer. Now a few more bits and pieces have emerged from that same first look, which you can check out after the jump.

In addition to "Dead Rising: Off the Record," Capcom revealed a second previously unannounced title at their press event last week. That title? "Dragon's Dogma." Really, "Dragon's Dogma"? Yes. That's what it's called. If it makes you feel any better, I've been assured that the title sounds way cooler in Japanese.
But what kind of game is it? Well, it's an open-world RPG with a focus on giant monster battles and squad mates. It's almost as if "Elder Scrolls" and "Monster Hunter" had one steamy, passionate night, and, 9 months later, out came "Dragon's Dogma."

When the first trailer for "Resident Evil: Raccoon City" was released, it gave fans a pretty clear idea of what Capcom was going for. You know that slow-paced, lonely survival horror game you're so used to playing? Well, we're adding a lot more bullets. And while many trailers can be misleading, that the one for "Raccoon City" painted exactly the same impression as the one I got after playing it for a half-hour. It's a multiplayer action game set in the Resident Evil universe, pure and simple.

The hero of "Dead Rising 2," an extreme sports aficionado named Chuck Greene, was not welcomed with open arms at first. Fans of the franchise had grown to love another man, a photojournalist named Frank West, who had saved dozens (or, in some cases, three) from Willamette Mall in the original game. But for the sequel, he was replaced. Fans were not happy. And while Frank did return for the post-release DLC, it wasn't the same as having him star in his own game. So Capcom is giving him just that: "Dead Rising 2: Off the Record."

There was neither a "Mario" game nor a "Zelda" game released alongside the Nintendo 3DS portable gaming platform when it launched at the end of last month. How strange that felt. Nintendo is more than making up for it though, with the upcoming 3D-ified release of one of the greatest games of all time, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." There's been all sorts of talk about the coming revival of the classic N64 game, but one fact that has continued to elude us is an official release date. No longer, though: Nintendo announced in a press release today that the game will hits stores in North America on June 19.
