Just an hour ago, I was talking about how we're looking forward to the prospect of "Portal 2" DLC details, which were supposed to drop any day now, and it seems Valve has heard my request. A press release was just sent out, detailing what the developer is calling DLC #1 for the game. The pack "will offer new test chambers for players, leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, and more." And that's not even the beauty part! The first DLC for "Portal 2" will be absolutely free for owners of the game.
Valve is targeting a summer release date for the first DLC pack which, based on the name ("Portal 2 DLC #1") seems to be just the beginning of on-going support for the title.
Unfortunately, apart from the general release time frame and that brief list of features, we don't know much more. But one can safely speculate that the release will be a big hit with fans, who are already finding insanely quick ways to complete test chambers.
Odds aren't super likely that there will be any additional story elements in the DLC, and that it'll be focused solely on new test chamber puzzles, but some new voice work from GLaDOS herself isn't out of the realm of possibility. After all, the whole sarcastic, grudge-bearing AI thing really never gets old. (Same goes for jokes about potato batteries.)
So, moral of the story, if you were considering trading in your copy of "Portal 2," shame on you. You wouldn't want to miss out on all the free stuff, would you?
