When the excellent "Mass Effect 2" DLC expansion "Lair of the Shadow Broker" released last year, some thought it would be the last add-on for that game while BioWare refocused its efforts on getting "Mass Effect 3" ready for a holiday 2011 release. Those people were wrong. There is more DLC coming, and it's coming soon. March 29, to be exact.

Developer Pop Quiz is a weekly interview series in which we ask developers from around the industry the same 10 questions and post their responses.
For the past few years gamers have been looking forward to the release of "MLB: The Show" just as much as, if not more than, they've been looking forward to the beginning of the real baseball season, and that's partially due to SCEA San Diego Studio's Senior Designer, Kolbe Launchbaugh. This year's game, aptly named "MLB 11: The Show," continues to push the bar for sports fans by adding new features, modes, and even Move support, and Launchbaugh helped make that come together. Find out more about this "Gran Turismo" loving designer in this week's Developer Pop Quiz.

"River City Ransom" is one of those NES classics where you either know it and love it or have never even heard of it. In other words, to know it is to love it. Which is the reason why fans should be very happy to hear today's latest news: developer Miracle Kidz is hard at work right now on "River City Ransom 2"!

You may have missed it because it arrived so late in the year, but the PlayStation Network-exclusive "Dead Nation" is easily one of the strongest games of 2010. Housemarque, the developer, created a top-down dual-stick zombie shooter that wasn't too far removed from its earlier PSN hit, "Super Stardust HD," but with a much more realistically rendered environment and some RPG-lite features. Next up for Housemarque is "Outland," another PSN release, this one featuring heavily stylized visuals and gameplay that finds common ground with "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night." There's already been quite a bit revealed about the single-player component of the game, but now there's also word on how the game's two co-op modes will shake out.

As most giant-bug-hating gamers know, D3 Publisher is home to one of the most unique franchises in gaming today, "Earth Defense Force." It's a series that has been going on for the last eight years, and has seen three releases worldwide. While there's only one title in the series that has been released in the United States, 2007's Xbox 360 exclusive, "Earth Defense Force 2017" (which also served as Multiplayer's very first review), D3 has planned a follow up to the over-the-top, bug-hunting, shooter, "Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon," which is set to be released early this Summer.
With the latest release, the development has changed hands, from Sandlot to Vicious Cycle, but the main crux of "Insect Armageddon" is still the same: save humanity from the invading race of giant bugs. At a recent demo in NYC, D3 showed off some of the improvements they've made to the traditionally so-bad-it's-good series, peppering in some changes that long-time fans may have some issues with.

Gameloft has quite literally turned the practice of copying game concepts wholesale for similar-yet-different releases into an art form. The studio's mobile releases mimic a range of popular games, from "Uncharted" to "God of War" to, most recently, Blizzard's popular RTS "StarCraft." It seems that Gameloft isn't done mining Blizzard either. A newly posted trailer for "Order & Chaos Online" carries the very strong scent of an even more popular title from the developer, "World of Warcraft."

Valve Corporation's game releases may be few in number most years, but the quality of those releases more than makes up for the lack of quantity. Part of that has to do with the great team that's been built there, headed up by company boss Gabe Newell. Now there's news that Valve's offices have added a new desk, to accommodate the arrival of veteran creative Doug Church to the company's ranks.

There is very little honor among gamers, especially online gamers. Perhaps because all of the corpses are virtual, there's no sense of loss and remorse associated with creating one. Or maybe we're all just sociopaths. Whatever the case is, most gamers are likely to do a little victory celebration following a particularly hard-fought kill. In the case of Zipper Interactive's PlayStation 3-exclusive online-only shooter "SOCOM 4," the act of celebrating your enemy's demise is actually coded into the game.

"Dead Island" features zombies, and therefore it will be good. That's simple math. It also happens to be an open-world game played from a first-person perspective with co-op support for up to four. Like "Left 4 Dead," there will be "special" boss-type zombies that present a greater threat than your average shambler, though exactly what form they'll take hasn't yet been revealed. Deep Silver released a handful of new images from the Techland-developed game today, one of which offers our first glimpse at what may well be a tougher type of zombie. It certainly looks tougher.
