"Resident Evil" is on everybody's mind today after yesterday's new out of Japan that "Resident Evil 4" and "Resident Evil - Code: Veronica" are getting high-def remakes. Incidentally, we also now have confirmation from Capcom that those remakes will be coming to North America as Xbox Live Arcade/PlayStation Network downloads this fall. We're here right now to talk about another upcoming game in the franchise however, an online shooter called "Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City."

"Mortal Kombat" may be taking things back to basics, but developer NetherRealm Studios isn't about to leave fighters completely without new toys to play with. The one that has arguably received the most attention is guest starring fighter Kratos, the ever-angry protagonist of Sony's "God of War." He'll only be available in the PlayStation 3 version of the game of course, but a newly released trailer does its best to sell you multi-console owners on the glories of playing as an ashy Spartan warrior.

Even though the vast majority of the planet doesn't have its hands on the Nintendo 3DS yet, that doesn't mean there aren't system updates for it. As a matter of fact, there's one available right this minute! I know, try to tame that jealousy. While the system update includes the usual sort of system update stuff like improved wireless connectivity, it also comes with a surprise music video from OK Go. Sure, why not?

There are a handful of games that have attempted to integrate Twitter in some way. "Uncharted 2" was probably the most flagrant example of how not to do it. After reviewers with early copies entered their Twitter information into the game, their followers were bombarded with a pre-created tweet every single time they finished a chapter. The developer reacted quickly, turning off the feature almost entirely by the time the game launched. Since then, there have been games to attempt it but none have done much beyond creating more Twitter spam for your followers.
Yesterday saw the release of "Sword & Sworcery EP" for the iPad. In the official description on the App Store, the game encourages players to "co-operate with friends via Twitter." That seems to imply that there's some sort of gameplay impact with the Twitter functionality. An intriguing concept.

"Battlefield 3" footage we've seen an abundance of, but actual details have been few and far between ever since the initial reveal in Game Informer. There's more to learn today though! Word has slipped out on some of the differences between the PC and console versions of the game. Read on for the details.

The long, sometimes-hilarious/sometimes-heartbreaking saga of "Duke Nukem Forever" is finally coming to an end in a few short months with the game's highly anticipated release. Once one of VaporWare's greatest shames for many years running, the game is now being polished off by the folks at Triptych Games and Gearbox Software for its May 3 release. Only... it's not coming out on May 3 anymore. In a dramatic turn of events, "Duke Nukem Forever" has been delayed, with the release now set for June 10 in the United States and a worldwide launch following on June 14.

Generally, when a game is going to be bad, I can tell. Even a year away from release, I can usually spot a stinker a mile away, as there are certain things that time simply won't fix. Bad design decisions, poor gameplay flow, a lack of creativity. These are all things that jump out and bite games journalists in the face. You hope things will change, but, 95% of the time, they won't.
With "Deus Ex: Human Revolution," I had no clue whether it was good or not until I played three hours of it last week. The last I had seen of it was at E3 2010. What was shown was a very action-heavy demo where the developers spoke about player choice, but didn't do a very good job showing it. In truth, it was a way to show the world that "Deus Ex" could appeal to the "Halo" crowd. As a fan of the previous games, all it did was make me worried.

One particularly impressive thing about Techland's "Dead Island" is how it has so far managed to capture the attention of gamers everywhere without much detail being revealed. We know that it is a melee-focused first-person zombie survival game set on an open-world tropical island and we know that co-op play is an option with a total of four playable characters. Wouldn't you like to know a little more though? You would? Good. Hit the jump and you will.

"Thor" the movie is coming out in the United States on May 6. "Thor: God of Thunder" is the inevitable video game tie-in, though studios are thankfully learned that spin-off game stories work much better than straight adaptations. As a result, "God of Thunder" will serve as a sort of prequel/parallel story to the film, one in which the titular Marvel superhero works his way through various otherworldly realms and the nasty creatures that reside in them. Some newly released screens highlight those creatures, which you can see more of after the jump.

From Software's "Yakuza 4" is the latest entry in the long-running series which is known for dropping players into a faithful recreation of modern-day Japan -- or, more precisely, a fictionalized section of Tokyo -- and letting them run free as a crime drama plays out. The new release is no different on that level, though some fundamental changes, including a rotating cast of characters, brings some new wrinkles into the series.
