After the surprise success of "Trials HD" on XBLA, developer RedLynx got right to work on a new Wii game, "Moto Heroz," which combines the physics-based racing of "Trials" with 4-player co-op play. Seems that's not the only project they're working on, though. RedLynx announced today that they'll be getting into the iOS business with a new game called "1000 Heroz," which mixes "Trials" with "Mario."
The idea behind "1000 Heroz" is that every day, for 1000 days, there will be a new character and level to play. Granted the characters and levels are extremely basic (see the above screen), but the crux of the game is focused on leaderboards, so besting your friends and earning achievements through Game Center should keep people back for, theoretically, 3 years.
The concept is a bit mind-blowing. Based on the above trailer, it seems the controls and gameplay couldn't be simpler. I could see this being the sort of game I play for five minutes every single day, kind of like "Farmville" but, you know, fun.
"1000 Heroz" is planned for release next month, with the iPhone version costing 99 cents and the iPad version costing $1.99. The official release states that the title with have Game Center and Open Feint support for leaderboards and achievements.
While it's an exciting release, it'd sure be nice if RedLynx saw fit to bring "Trials" or "Moto Heroz" to iOS, as well. At present there are a few "Trials" clones in the mix, but an official portable version would just make my day. Perhaps sometime in the three-year lifetime span of "1000 Heroz," they'll find some spare time to work on the port?
